And for tonight, a realistic draft I really like.  Addresses some current needs and some future ones.

This is one of my favorites yet.  Love the first two picks.  And in the third I actually had my choice of Jeremy Cash, Devontae Booker or Derrick Henry.  Only regret was being unable to add someone to the secondary, either someone to challenge Tre or groom at CB for the likely need in the near future.  Unfortunately, this draft seems very unrealistic.  I doubt any of my first 3 will be there when we pick in the respective rounds.

Thanks Jawny.  Your recent drafts are looking pretty similar to mine.  I've also managed the double Henry draft a few times with Hunter & Derrick, or a different double Henry draft with Hunter in the 2nd & DT Willie Henry in the 3rd.  So far I've not pulled off the TRIPLE Henry draft... though I'm trying!

Even though I'd like to address the trenches, I'd still probably cream myself with this draft.

heh yea.  I really think Elliot is AP but slightly less powerful, though he's still got plenty of power by usual standards.  He's gonna be a good one.

Here's an intriguing one.  Beefing that DL with young potential and adding depth/competition at OT and getting a potential replacement for Stewart for the near future.

I want whatever the analyst at "Kyle Crabbs NDT Scouting" is smoking.  This draft would be astonishing.  A bit heavy on the offense... but hey, when you can get 1st round graded players at the end of rounds 3 and 4???!!!  Obviously this analysts grades are totally out of synch.  In many cases these players didn't technically "fall" - they were just graded that low.  There were TONS more steals I could have had if I'd had 10 more picks!

yea, I tried that one out too and quit out of it after the 3rd round and ridiculous players were still available.  I don't bother with drafts that go completely unbelievably.  Had one draft where I got Ezekiel Elliot in the 1st, Ogbah in the 2nd and Jason Spriggs in the 3rd.

Drafts like that do seem crazy, but on the other hand many of these analysts severely suffer from groupthink. Not saying Coleman or Burns will be available on day 3, but it's kind of refreshing to see someone actually analyze these guys and on their own come up with a completely different ranking, outside opinions be damned.

A good example of this is Matt Waldman. One of the more respected analysts, he JUST released his rookie scouting portfolio. Exceeding 1,500 pages, he took the time to analyze every player before releasing anything, all the while shunning outside opinions/boards.

It's a fantastic case study in independent thinking, confirming some analyst picks and basically contradicting others. For instance, I listened to Waldman on Josh Norris' podcast where he talked about his top QBs: Jared Goff...and Cardale Jones.

lol crazy talk.  They might as well start engraving the Lombardi for us on May 1st if that's how the draft panned out.

    • Now now now, I wouldn't say there is no logic, but there's just not a lot of in-depth thought put into Barnwell's  "analysis." Now to be fair to him (and other national writers), pre-season team rankings are basically clickbait. And...Barnwell, himself, said that "there's a lot of projection here." He basically admits that he doesn't know how the hell things are going to turn out with our receiver group. He also said that "I find myself" more intrigued by Coker than Legette; that does not mean that he said that fans should be, or that Coker will even be better than Legette (regardless of ESPN's per-route-run stat). So, yeah, Barnwell said some things, but even he has to basically admit that he doesn't know how bad or good that our playmakers will be in 2025.  Overall, what Barnwell is basically thinking is that the Panthers have gotten worse at the offensive skill positions, and baked into that is that others have gotten better. That's the argument in July (meaning, please don't give this any more weight than it's due). I would personally be surprised (not shocked) if we end up worse than the Titans, Pats and Giants at least. Once you throw in the Bills, Giants, Jets, Steelers, and even the Chargers, I personally think there are several teams' skill groups that may end up ranked lower than ours by the end of 2025.  @kungfoodudeis one of my dudes, but like others he is over the tipping point. He's had enough. Seeing is believing. I will say this though: Barnwell's piece is less about logic than just good ol' opinion. And to be honest, he might as well be a Huddler throwing out sh¡t in the summer based upon nothing but good feels or bad feels.  Our offense as a whole (just like any other team's) is going to depend upon the play of the O-line and especially the QB. How you can even rank the skill positions without expressly baking those two things in the cake is beyond me. I would dare say that that's not even logical.
    • Football is not the professional sport where timidness and apprehension are justly rewarded.
    • Bryce Young had a super high floor definitely at least won't be a bust safe pick we allegedly had seen in some time.......and went on to have one of the worst rookie seasons of all time.  They are all lotto picks.  And that is especially true for whatever they will be day 1 in the NFL.  I don't think Tmac is a sure thing year 1.  It's not like we watched him do his thing in the SEC.  He was a PAC12 guy.  I'm sure it will take time
