The Flash

Why hasn't there been a thread made for this show yet? Binged the first season on Netflix and have been slowing catching up with season 2 on CW. After getting into The Flash I've been back tracking to get caught up with Arrow and starting legends of tomorrow. All are really good and the tv universe CW and DC have made is really fun and entertaining. It's given me a deeper appreciation for The Flash and his lore than I had previously.

how many have you guys have seen the show?

Been watching since the beginning.

I love Flash. It's a good show, but suffers from the same bad acting at times that Arrow does. Not all, but a few just seem...off. But it is CW, not a bigger network. Flash has been better this season than Arrow though. Though, Arrow has gotten pretty good the past couple of weeks.

I have not caught up on Legends of Tomorrow like I should. Saw the pilot, but haven't been keeping up. Probably should, as it is supposed to crossover with Flash and Arrow soon from what I hear.

Yeah it has some bad acting and some wonky plot stuff, like Barry's secret identity being incredibly obvious to everyone, star labs having zero security, etc but that's what I love about it. It's fun and not too serious but still has great stories. I'm only on arrow season one but I love that show aswell. The CW knows how to make serial shows like this

The Flash is the best superhero show going right now. It's fun, not too heavy and they really do their best to work with the original comics. Great for the whole family and my kids love it.

Arrow's a bit more soap opera-ey and Legends of Tomorrow has its moments. Both are good fun. Now CBS's Supergirl... it just seems to be missing on some of the cylinders and I'm having a hard time suspending my disbelief and just enjoying it. I think the Calista Flockhart character actually ruins the whole premise and it suffers from really lazy writing and some of the worst acting on TV.

Haven't watched super girl, probably won't  and only see her when she comes on for crossovers. But I agree the show is so much fun. When Cisco meets reverb that was amazing. Can't wait to see how this season ends.

I watch and enjoy both Flash and Arrow.  Acting is somewhat indifferent to me.  None of the actors are so bad that it stands out and ruins the show, but none are likely to ever be breakout movie stars either.  However, the stories and such are just good fun and can be interesting.  I really think the Joe character on Flash puts it a step ahead of Arrow.  He is kind of the father figure that binds everyone together and gives it heart, and that's something that is missing from Arrow.  And I really love when the two shows crossovers.  The actors on both shows do have good chemistry together.

I am trying to get into Legends of Tomorrow, but IMO the casting choices are horrid.  That Hawkgirl is a hideous actress and the girl that plays Sarah cannot act her way out of a paper bag.  And the future guy (Rip Hunter) has zero charisma and is one of the most boring characters I have seen.  He'd be ok in a sidekick role like he had on Doctor Who, but he has no business being in such a prominent role as he is here.

Yeah, I gotta agree. While I do enjoy Legends of Tomorrow, the whole Hawkgirl thing is just well, hokey, particularly because the actress playing her was chosen for looks rather than talent. She's pretending, not acting, and it's really evident. They also keep pushing the White Canary actress and she's just not got it. I think it is suffering from bad directing more than anything.

I never hear anyone talking about it anymore so I assumed that the second season dropped off in quality

Second season is probably better than the first imo. Who Zoom is and the dynamics of the multiverse with earth 2 are really interesting and compelling. The writing for the flash is top notch I think. I could see this series getting a 10 season run no problem

I worry Arrow hit peak in Season 2 with Deathstroke, much like Dexter did in Season 4 with Lithgow.  It's super hard to continue on after you've nailed it with a villain already.   I wouldn't even mind a rematch but I heard DC took Deathstroke/Deadshot off limits to TV now.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
