Here's who's left

Unrestricted

WR Jerricho Cotchery

CB Cortland Finnegan

DT Kyle Love

G Chris Scott

CB Charles Tillman

FB Mike Tolbert

QB Joe Webb

Restricted

OT Mike Remmers

WR Stephen Hill

DE Frank Alexander

I just want Big Frank to have one full season with us. He's one of my faves and if healthy, he would be one heckuva safety valve in the DL rotation.

Having said that, I'm just hoping he hasn't smoked himself retarted in his long absence.

The others that I left on this list are wants. I still think Cotchery is money when it counts and is still an on-the-field coach for our youngsters...not to mention I have little faith in Corey Brown and hope Stephen Hill can push CB for his spot.

Tender offers are probably coming for Remmers and Hill. I'm about 50-50 on Alexander.

Among the UFAs, Tolbert, Nortman and Webb are the ones I feel fairly certain will be back, while Cotchery, Harper, Tillman and Velasco seem the most likely to be let walk.

Would like to see Kyle Love re-signed but I don't know if it'll happen.

I am surprised to see your doubts on Kyle Love.  Is it money or performance that you think would cause him to be let go, or do you think another team snags him (offers more than we can pay)?

I have thought he was a solid piece of our Dline rotation.

Isn't Frank suspended all of next year? no one is going to pick his ass up, he smoked himself out of the league.

Yes, he got suspended 1 year after the Deadskins game, just before our Thanksgiving game in Dallas. Was the same time Wes got his 4 game vacation and Stephen Hill got a 1 week penalty and CJ came off the IR-DtR

Big Frank will be able to play the last 5-7 games next year, depending on the schedule. Worth holding on to him since he won't count against the 53 man roster while he's suspended, and we might need another DE if the injury bug bites us at that position late next season. Will be cheap, too, since he could only play a partial season

I would re-sign the bolded players. Most of them for the minimum. Tolbert, Love and Nortman get more than that and Remmers gets $2.5M on a RFA tender. The rest are guys fighting for a spot in camp. If someone else offers more then let them go. Cotchery, Harper, Tillman and Frank are gone.

Pretty much agree with your comment.

Not sure we keep all three Oline guys (Silatolu, Scott & Velasco) .  Maybe only 2?  There's also Chandler, and Remmers might become a multi-position backup at Oline, plus bring in new guys.... But maybe we keep all 3 and let them compete for spots.

Oh, I like him a lot and hope the team brings him back.

I just don't know if they will.

My thinking is that we have a 90 man roster to fill and only 60 or so under contract with almost none of them being backup OL so just offer all of them 1 year minimum deals and most will accept them then let them compete with the UDFA's for a roster spot. If all of them take the deal then whatever. We aren't committing any guaranteed money aside from relatively tiny signing bonuses so we can cut whoever, whenever we want. To be honest I'm not even sure who the hell Tyronne Green is and I'd bring him back too. I guess he's some OG that got hurt in camp last year that won't make the team, but he is probably fine for camp fodder. We need those guys too.

I definitely want Love back. I think he broke out this year. Hell, he was better than Star for the first 4-5 games until Star got into shape. He's basically the perfect backup DT. He's a guy I would try like hell to re-sign to a reasonable deal before FA starts if I was Gettleman so no one steals him.

    • It appears that he sees things differently than the QB and OC, so Cam's advice is spot on. It isn't about number of targets, it's about quality of targets. Trust and being on the same page. BY doesn't know how to anticipate what XL is doing. And XL doesn't like where BY is placing passes. One on one film study would go a long way. More for BY than XL though. He has to adjust to XL. I really don't think XL can adjust on the fly.
    • If the team shows improvement, then he shouldn't be in danger of losing his job - even if the record doesn't reflect. This was a very young team (with a lot of new vet starters) that overperformed last season. Somebody's doing something right. Consistency is key with so much youth. And we're potentially looking at new starters at ILB and FS. Those are positions that take time to fully understand the defense. ILB calls the front 7. Safety calls the back 4. Injuries at WR and IOL killed the offense last season. Depth needs to be upgraded. Same with Edge. I think they would have won more games if Pat Jones doesn't go down early. Be smart with the roster and draft. Trade players for assets when it's time to pay them more than they're worth - yes, that includes BY if he doesn't make a pretty big jump. That's one of the many reasons Tillis is as important as anyone to the future of this team.
    • He had heart surgery a while back he looks Fraile I hope he is okay
