Mike McCoy criticism

Why is everybody ripping on ex-quarterback coach Mike McCoy? He helped Jake develop into a more-than-servicable starter for several years. Remember when Jake had one of the top playoff ratings of all time?

Besides, his wife always came to training camp in see-through attire and no undergarments. :D

Which Jake? Good game jake or bad game down into the depths of hell jake?

Jake was among the top two or three QBs when he hurt his elbow in Atlanta two years ago. At that point, if he had never come back to play again, you would have said "Man, we got a whole hell of a lot out of that guy considering he sat behind Aaron Effing Brooks for however long."

You know, when you think about it, this all should be painfully obvious. You had a quarterback who wasn't the most physically gifted to begin with. He injures his elbow...Tommy John surgery. Why didn't we all see this coming? Maybe the question shouldn't have been "Can he make it back?" but rather "Why try?" Seriously.

Elbow surgery for a QB is like knee or ankle surgery for an RB. He's got to feel that throw as if nothing ever happened to his elbow before.

I personally don't think Jake's issues are tied to his elbow. He played pretty well last year except for like 2 or 3 regular season games and of course the AZ game... then he comes out this year and stinks it up right to start with. I think that there's some sort of mental block/confidence thing that he's going thru. The AZ game really shook him and the Philly game turned out the same and he looked like a man in shock out there on the field.

Several Panther coaches noted that Jake's arm appeared stronger after his surgery and recovery. Prior to his surgery, Jake was basically playing with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament, which made his arm weaker. Not to mention the pain involved in warming up the arm to throw. I suspect Jake's slight loss of arm strength has more to do with the aging process, than lingering effects form his surgery. Jake's main problem is mental imo. We all do stupid sh#t from time to time if we panic. The key is to make Jake feel safe behind the o-line, and give him confidence building passes.

    • Great article on all the Lil Canes attending their debutantes ball. Walt with a great breakdown of all the rookies, as always, and I'm a huge fan of his team coverage, he is truly a treasure, but as a fan of mixed metaphors and superfluous language which some might ignorantly refer to as a "run-on sentence" I never really understood what that mean or where to put the comma after a quote in the middle of a sentence, but holy poo Walt, this is a gem, "While there's a long road left in front of them left to determine whether or not they'll have that same success on the blue line again, the beginning stretch of the journey has been thrown a wrench, and the story on defense has been the emergence of up-and-comers forced into becoming lineup regulars." , bravo, take a bow, sir!
    • How do I activate said Krispy Kreme deal? I'm stoned man you can't be playing with me about this...
    • When the broadcast showed the two benches side by side during the last TV timeout, it was pretty obvious the whole operation is a shitshow. If I was the owner, I would play that clip, with commentary, on the jumbotron at MSG as I fired the coach, GM, President, the whole lot. Bring in your AHL leadership team, wholesale, to finish out the season and start from scratch next year.  Can't fire all the players and fold the season. But, hopefully decapitating the zombie will light a fire under the body and burn out the cancer of the roster. (It makes sense if you don't think about it...) There are obviously issues on the roster. But, you can't have the entire coaching staff completely tuned out with 5 minutes left in a 2 goal game this early in the season. And you can't trust the people that hired them to hire the next staff. If you trust your AHL GM/Scouts, let them run the deadline firesale.   ...     Please don't let the owner read any of this. Because, this poo is hilarous!
