Wendall Williams, a relatively unknown entity from the University of Cumberlands, set a record for the 40 yard dash at a regional combine yesterday. Guess who was there though.

"Williams ran so fast and jumped so high Saturday that the four scouts in attendance - from the Vikings, Packers, Chiefs and Panthers- pulled him off the field to interview him."

Only four scouts in attendance? I wonder why teams would miss a regional combine (maybe not enough manpower/logistics, IDK). Anyway, we're on the job doing our due diligence.

I wonder how his hands are...

That's how you go from nobody to 7th round pick.

I'm not going to go that far, but don't be surprised if he becomes a priority as an undrafted free agent, and don't be surprised if he signs with us.

Ehh. Lot of fast aspiring NFL players. Need everything else to have a shot. I wouldn't sign a guy as a UDFA just because of speed unless I saw the potential in the other necessary areas. Don't forget we have Byrd and Hill competing this year, who are both freaks with speed.

G-man and Riverboat were not joking when they said they wanted to improve team speed 12 months ago.

  • T. Ginn Jr.
  • T. Williams
  • D. Byrd

I hope we can add Wendall. Then the team speed would really be crazy.

Not to mention that they signed Stephen Hill to a reserve/future contract around the same time.

ppl still believe this unicorn exists?

Well, arguably G-man, Rivera and Proehl must be among those people too---as well as Cam, who said it was a "big deal" when Hill was lost. They have all spoken to Hill's hard work, development and improvement as a receiver. In this  sense, unicorns must be real.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm growing tired of all the interest in trying out WRs when we have Olsen, KB, Funchess, Ginn and Brown well-seasoned...with guys like Byrd and Hill waiting on the wings.

We have too many needs to be worried about fringe draftees, especially those who attended small schools also BBersin.

FA. BPA and bringing in our practice players.

    • If Raiden were a Cane, he'd get the double minor.
    • I agree it does seem the league is against Charlotte but the picks they've made have been questionable. They've had sure fire picks fall to them and they keep trying to build a army of forwards who cannot shoot for some reason lol. You got to make a move in offseason and or trade for scoring. I get the best aren't coming to Charlotte but theres been opportunities at solid players with experience, that would've come just to be the man here in Charlotte. They got to stop over thinking this in the draft too. Take the best scorers available! I'm hearing we need more size on the wing, a big man, great defender, etc. but nothing about scoring or a shot creator. This team has been terrible at shooting the rock especially from the perimeter and its a iso 3 ball league, no one plays defense or really runs an offense. This franchise does not do well with developing players either. I've seen too many guys take huge leaps once they were away from Charlotte which is concerning. And even more concering that they're taking developmental guys when they have no business doing so. So, All that to say take a proven scorer, high basketball IQ guy, a unpolished player will not survive here.
