FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo calls Chase Daniel's contract with the Eagles a "backup/maybe starter deal."

Daniel signed a three-year deal that has a base value of $21 million, and could be worth up to $36 million through incentives. It makes him -- by far -- the highest paid "backup" quarterback in football, and perhaps sets up Daniel to get a legitimate chance to unseat the always-shaky Bradford in training camp. Daniel's contract contains $12 million guaranteed. Although Bradford has superior physical skills, Daniel has experience in new Eagles coach Doug Pederson's offense, and Garafolo reports Pederson "loves" Daniel. This will be a battle worth monitoring all spring and summer.

Florio pointed out earlier that Bradford's deal is a very "tradeable" one.

Eagles would eat $11M in dead money they just paid out if they traded Bradford this year. Can't see that at all unless he is referring to a deal next year.

Unknown, but it's ridiculous how much they're paying Daniel.

    • Svechnikov and I'm voting cause I'm pissed.
    • He had games where he was a top 10 QB that week, vs Saints, Falcons, Eagles, Chiefs, Bucs.  Amazing performances that I think show what he can do consistently.  He must play with confidence to overcome physical limitations where someone like Cam can struggle all game and then win the game at the end by running someone over. Bryce won’t be that and I am fine with it, it’s time for us to move on to the new era. It’s been 5 long years.
    • We both know there's more that goes into batted passes than just the height of the QB. Most people here have readily acknowledged this and there were numerous discussions about it before we drafted Young. But if you are presenting a POV that Bryce's height hasn't tied to issues with his footwork then there's nothing anyone is going to be able to say to sway you and you know this. Even beyond the footwork I recall a redzone play where Bryce couldn't see around his right tackle at all where a receiver was waiting practically alone in the end zone for a touchdown. There are real world circumstances that are going to show up over the course of the upcoming season and it's up to Bryce and Dave Canales to make adjustments and do anything they can to mitigate negative instances and yes that begins with Bryce's footwork again. Thanks for your time. Have a nice weekend.
