Jake Delhomme needs to have the best game of his career

I'm not saying that if he fails miserably he will loose his starting job. I'm not saying that if the team looses then his life will be in danger from extremist fans. I'm not saying that even if he does poorly but the team somehow wins it won't be good for his image.

Jake Delhomme needs to play the greatest game of his career on Sunday in Atlanta for and only for Jake Delhomme. Anything less, and there is no chance that his confidence will ever recover fully.

I'm pretty sure there's no way he will, and I don't think he needs to, because they're going to stress that what he needs to do is not make bad plays. He can get his confidence back by having a solid game.

I'm seeing something like 10 for 20, 150 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs.

Yeah, I agree... he doesn't need to have the game of his career, he just needs to hold on to the damn ball. If he does that, Fox will keep him in there.

If he has a great game it will be a testament to Davidson's gameplan and execution by each of the players. Jake is only as good as the cast around him. If they all execute and we have a comprehensive gameplan which accounts for whatever the Falcons throw at us, then we will be in the game and Jake won't be asked to do anything he isn't capable of doing. Win or lose we are back to the team that is in every game and has the chance to win in the fourth quarter. Without heroics or amazing comebacks.

Thruth is that the defense and special teams will tell the tale. If we can hold the Falcons to 14-17 points we are going to be fine. We don't want a shootout where one mistake or two will serious impact the game.

Jake just has to be good and handing off the ball. If the OL is the weakness in pass protection like some are saying, then please run for your life, or take a sack. Its better than just handing them the ball. At least we will get a chance to punt, and yes in these times, a punt really is a good play.

Then, we will be able to see what our defense is made of. Who knows, it might give us something else to bitch about.

I agree but the greatest game of his career will most likely be the super bowl when he played as well as the all time greats

    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
    • It is goofy how some people hate Bryce so much that they're flat out lying to try and remain entitled to their pessimism. It's insanity. Most fans are realists and eagerly awaiting the season to see if we get pre- or post-benching Bryce to start the season and how much he is able to do with some young and developing weapons. Many of us understand that these young guys are going to have growing pains on the job as well as the new defense, but the fans with all of the excuses for why Bryce can't be successful are pounding the no excuses drum. Personally, I'd prefer the Keep Pounding drum.
    • Just like we overpaid for Wharton.
