Gettleman's post-draft press conference - video

If this was a two hour presser I would most likely have listened from start to finish.

All skepticism I had is gone. Might be back two days from now but at the moment I'm good.

P.S.... Keyarris and Cash also filled my draft void although I reeeeeeally wanted Cravens.... Now I'm off to get a Milkshake.

Hope he never leaves. What a brilliant mind.

I really appreciate his honesty when talking about other corners taken before the two we drafted not even being on our board because they didn't fit our scheme.

the nnamdi example he gave was perfect.

Pundits and some people don't understand that teams' board are a lot smaller because we throw away all the 3-4 defensive players and scheme misfits. But it was educational when he talked about the corners and how he evaluates.

He was throwing some indirect shade to the Giants. They drafted Apple with 10th pick while he's a man corner who struggles in off coverage while they're a zone defensive team.

I laughed at DG saying he doesn't pay attention to the outside noise and the pundits, doesn't read stuff... then he talks about how the 2014 draft got such a low grade, but then in a "re-draft" 4 of them were 1st round picks....!  So much for not paying attention!!!  LOL.

lol I was just watching that and came here to make a new thread just to point that out.  Glad I checked first :)  Made me laugh.

Dave really is great at reassuring us amateur GMs that he knows wtf he's doing.  I do feel better about our picks after watching this video.  Making it clear that drafting ALL THE CBs was about establishing stability in the secondary because he recognized that we've just been rotating old guys since he got here was good to hear.

Anyone who has remotely questioned this draft needs to watch this video.

Gettleman knows his stuff, this isn't obvious cliche poo he is saying, he is going in depth.

His point about Nnamdi Asomugha in particular was very important.

"At the end of the day, we're not bringing in dumb guys. We're not gonna do it.  I don't care how talented they are, cuz by the time they figure it out, you know, Ron and I get fired."

I'm man-crushing on da Godfaddah right now... lol.

    • There are no juggernauts this year. Feels like everyone in the playoffs field is gonna have a puncher's chance. All the best teams still have very obvious flaws.
    • It does vary, and depends on their health and other factors. I mean you really can’t look at the schedule in August and know what you will be facing mid season or even early Any time because stuff happens. It is any given Sunday relative to that. Early this year, KC was beatable. Will they be in December? And we don’t know if they’ll be motivated, or out of it. One team, that is likely a different team in 10 weeks. That’s an example what I mean.  Far as “decent” we know who the good teams are. We could hit a good team on a bad day, and we could have a really good one. It happens. All I’m saying. And I don’t expect it not to, for random teams. That’s about it. Predicting wins is an imperfect pastime.
    • To the folks the last couple years who were boosting up Josh Allen and shitting on Cam Newton. This one goes out to you.
