Congrats to Stew!

Should be a Panther heavy top 100 this year. I fully expect Cam, Luke, Olsen, TD, Josh and KK to all be somewhere in this list. Kalil deserves to be in as well.

And Trai Turner....

Our 10 pro-bowlers were not a fluke nor merely the result of an energized fan base stuffing the ballot box...!  For some (Stew, TD) the recognition is long overdue, they just needed an opportunity to really be noticed, and our 15-1 season gave them just that.

If our run blocking improves this year, he could easily break a 1000 yards.

He was soooooo close last year.  Missed it by what 10 yards or something?  [Ok, I looked it up... it was 11 yards]  I kept wishing we'd activate him for 1 or 2 carries just so he could break the 1000 yard milestone, but of course, that would have been pretty foolish when we needed him healthy for the post-season.

We are really going to miss him when he leaves or starts declining. Injuries aside, he was such a rare talent at running back coming out of Oregon, I completely understand why we grabbed him. A load who's big, strong and verified 4.4 speed (he was even used as a kick returner at Oregon at 235 lbs). His running style fits our offense perfectly and he will not be easily replaced.

This is going to be sad.  The good thing about double trouble is that is's probably going to help him perform well for a few more years.  I wouldn't be surprised if the Panthers sniff around for more RBs of a similar build and style to Stewart.  Everyone has given him poo about his contract (I'm sure I have), but you can't deny that he's been a good player when on the field.  The injuries stink.

I'm glad to see him doing well, and recognized for how good of a player he has been for a long time.  But yes, it's going to suck when we have to find his replacement.

Regardless of the contract, or all the stupid exercise bike jokes, there is no denying that Jonathan Stewart is one of the most physical hard nosed runners I've seen play the game. His stiff arm is especially brutal. He routinely made gains out of what should have been a loss or no gain last year. We are lucky to have him.
