Brandon Boykin to visit Falcons

Recommended Posts

Well-traveled cornerback Brandon Boykin will be traveling to a new NFL city.

D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Boykin will visit the Falcon on Monday.

A fourth-round draft pick of the Eagles in 2012, Philly traded him last year to the Steelers. Boykin barely contributed in one season with Pittsburgh, and he then signed with Carolina as a free agent.

Carolina’s decision to dump Boykin came only days after coach Ron Rivera explained that it would be impossible to fully assess the team’s rookie cornerbacks before they can engage in bump-and-run coverage and other contact drills at training camp. Apparently, they saw enough from Boykin to move on.

interesting. Now we know it isn't the coaching staff's decision. Ron wasn't too pleased about the Norman release either.

Free agent SCB Brandon Boykin will visit the Falcons on Monday.

Boykin was surprisingly released from the Panthers this week just two months into a deal which included an $80,000 signing bonus. Boykin excels on the field, but he has now been let go by three teams since last August. With Desmond Trufant and Robert Alford on the outside, Boykin would give Atlanta a potentially dominant corner group.

Funny. I remember hearing a recent broadcast and how Ron mentioned that Dave and Him worked together in releasing JNo. I can only assume they did the same for Boykin. Obvious they don't want to go through another Mike Mitchell contract with him.

Based on his interview this morning he was fully involved in the Norman process. Quit with this idiotic confirmation bias.

Lol go watch the predraft presser. I'd certainly imagine he's reversed course but he made it abundantly clear in the immediate wake that it was GM driven.

Unless he's lying he made it very specifically clear that he was a part of both the Norman and Boykin decision making process during his pulse interview today.

Difference between "lying" and saying the right things to the press, especially after people publically took note after their original press conference.

Saying "we made a group decision" is the off season equivalent of "we just gotta take it one game at a time."

Yes, Rivera lied. Coaches do it all the time. It's better for him to lie and say he was part of the process instead of telling the truth that Gettleman just did it on his own.

    • You bring up a good point on the stability part and i would agree that probably will factor into it. But yes, Tepper does have a strong influence on who stays/goes but I still believe ultimately it'is Morgan, Tilis and Canales who will decide.
    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
