This seems like the equivalent of getting veteran free agent players who take a big discount because they want to come here and play with us.  (Though maybe I shouldn't mention that in the same week that we just cut Brandon Boykin!).  A former Assistant GM and a former Director of College Scouting/Director of Player Personnel now both accepting lower(?) positions as regional scouts?!

Am I understanding the seniority of these positions correctly?

More #Gettlemagic?!

I'm sure they are perusing the Huddle feverishly to decide on the next Director. We have several resident know-it-alls that could slide in to place immediately.

At the moment my people and their people are "very" far apart on a compensation package. But we both are going in the right direction and I feel like a deal could get done soon.

I found some old videos of these guys speaking at the combine, Stokes as the player personnel guy for the Bucs in 2014, and Patten as the personnel guy for the 49ers in 2012. both spoke a bit about their philosophy, and I can at least get a sense of how they fit. both spoke of using the combine to get to know players beyond their tape. Patten repeatedly mentioned "value" in terms of draft picks so he'll fit in with Gettleman on that front. interesting that Stokes was let go from Miami. wonder how that was shaking out. it was a big promotion for him, and now he's a regional scout again. and now I'm thinking I've put enough energy into relatively minor football news for the day.

      My thing is why does it have to be round one? I really don’t mind taking a receiver later, I understand the need. And the recent salary explosion for WRs make it a matter of practicality as much as an overindulgement of a midget QB. A little easier to stomach.     I have bitched for years about the defense being shorted but I saw the reasoning last year with Tet, he was not a forced pick. Defense would have been. So no complaints or rants were made.  But enough is enough. Get a receiver somewhere else besides 19, there will be a number of guys that can help us there as much as a WR.  I mean, do people think a rookie WR is gonna come out and light it up with Bryce throwing to them in this offense? It took him 6 games to throw Tet a TD pass, in case people forgot. If we had a better QB he could have run away with OROY.

      Lol or those fat ones on the internet saying they deserve a billionaire and won’t settle for less.     Canales irritated me in the recent interview that was posted by saying we are good now. A good team. A winning team.  All it takes is an 8-10 record and he is saying poo like that? I don’t like it. Stay humble.
