When that group of fans value the GM/front office over the team/players it is quite bizarre. Their desire to become apologists for Gettleman at the expense of the family, their need to attribute others' success to Gettleman, and their willingness to put blinders on regarding the failures of Gettleman is on the verge of the inane.

Any player with that section of the fan base will be ridiculed and demonized because the front office made the move, and the front office can never be wrong in the eyes of these fans. Any historical importance or value that player has will be tossed aside by these fans until the front office instructs them to honor that player at a future date.

Maybe you should read this quote from Mike Tolbert, who is good friends with Josh, instead of making up some dumb poo, to try to get people on board with your asinine theory.

Quote

“Having personal conversations with Josh, I’m going to keep that personal, because that’s a good friend of mine,” Tolbert said, “but as far as the team, I would say they just weren’t willing to pay that kind of money. They want guys that want to be here, and I don’t necessarily know that Josh showed that to them at the time.”

Tolbert showed his commitment to the team by taking less money in free agency to return to Carolina. On Monday, he was showing his commitment to the community.

Whaaaaat?  Josh's good friend, and former team mate, is quoted saying that they want guys that want to be here, and Josh didn't show them that he wanted to be here?  Wow man.  That's pretty much what a majority of those silly "Gettleman jock riders" have been saying the whole time.  So... what angle do you want to try to hit next?

i look at you and see someone who values sentimentality over actual on the field performance.  and that's bizarre to me.  to me everything about you down to your brad hoover avatar indicates obsession with things and times that are gone.

I look at him and I see a troll.

Let's not feed him anymore, shall we? The ignore user function is a nifty tool. I would recommend people use it more often.

Of course he has no issues with the Panthers. Gman brought in a beastly front 7 for him to play behind and now, after only about 20-25 games as a real contributor in the NFL, he's rich AF. Gettlemagic.

He bailed out the d-line for the most part. They couldn't get pressure in a lot of games.

I think there is a lot of selective memory regarding this unfortunately.

We definitely have some talent on the DL, but that first Saints game where Luke McCown of all people absolutely tore us apart, only to have Norman end up being the one to seal the W for us should be something to consider as a caution before making claims.

I think we can definitely get pressure, but we have to be able to do it more consistently. It's easy to put on the homer shades in May. But come September when the games are actually being played, if our secondary starts getting picked apart, all the patience being preached around here right now is going right out the window. That is for sure.

I'm just tired of the same song and dance each offseason.

player has issues with FO, player gets labeled Diva,Selfish,ECT

It's a business on both sides,so just because a player Isn't resigned doesn't make him a Diva and blah blah blah just like if we don't resign a player that doesn't make our FO idiots

Corrected your post so it represents the actual quote. You accidentally left parts out even though you posted them back to back. Being caught up in the emotion and manipulating quotes is expected when you value the front office over the players.

Tolbert chose not to speak or share what he has spoken to Josh about regarding this position because he is a friend. He does however speak to the team being unwilling to pay Josh because the team felt Josh was not showing the front office he wanted to be part of the team by taking less than market value and giving the team a home town discount. You can also infer that Tolbert does not view the front office as friends/family since he chose to speculate on their position. Tolbert clearly does not speculate, share, or speak for his friends or family out of respect.

Tolbert also said Josh Norman's departure was shocking.

Tolbert approved of Tre Boston confronting the fans of the front office by making it clear that getting paid what you are worth does not fall on the player. The front office was the one who chose that Norman was not worth his market value and made the call to part ways against the behest of many of the players. The Panthers had Norman locked up if they were willing to pay anywhere close to his market value.

Lol, you can make all the twists and turns you like, to get your little front office conspiracy theory to stick.  Tolbert wouldn't have even made that statement if he didn't believe it was the case.  There's no other reason for that to come out of his mouth.  I wouldn't consider him a very good friend, if he's just throwing out random assumptions.

As far as valuing the front office over the players, you need to figure poo out.  I value the TEAM.  IDGAF about individuals that don't want to be here, for whatever reason, and whether they are players, or front office employees, doesn't mean poo to me.  Norman wanted to be the highest paid at his position.  Good for him, he's a damn good CB.  Our TEAM doesn't value that position like others, so why the hell would they throw that kind of money at him?  He cared more about being the highest paid, than being here, so why would I give a single poo about what happened?  Do you want to start some kind of fuging carebear foundation for the protection of player's feelings?  Want to have a group cry because we lost Josh Norman?  Go find somebody to hug it out with, and move the fug on.  Guess what twinkle toes, every one of the premier guys that's signed a contract here, could have gotten more on the open market, than they did here.  A shitload more.  That's how it works...
