So CAP has lost some weight...

Last season, CAP was listed at 220 lbs.  According to this article, he's cut around 10 lbs., and may drop some more before it's all said, and done.

Just dropping 10 lbs. would bring him down to 210 lbs.(Yay math!).  For me, I'm not too excited that he's dropping that much weight, and I'm not too sure how he thinks it will benefit him, in our style of ground game.  Typically, the "power backs" of the league average in the 220 lb. range, and I thought he could fit that role.  To be quite honest, I think it may hurt him, regarding his competition with Wegher.  Wegher is listed at 215, he's fast, strong, and very explosive.  If I'm not mistaken, Jeremy noted how explosive he was looking out of the backfield last week.

What say you Huddlers?  How do you feel about CAP in the 207 - 210 lb. range?

For me, the weight isn't overly important because it's hard to judge a number because there are so many other variables like height, body fat %, frame etc.  But as far as cutting weight, this is something I would have rather have been done months ago.  If you're cutting weight, it will severely inhibit your ability to get stronger and lower your endurance during the cut considerably.   He needs to be in a calorie excess during OTAs and Training Camp.

I'm pretty sure DeAngelo's playing weight/listed weight was 215 lbs. However towards the end of his tenure it seems he had put on weight based on his own admission that he lost weight when going to Pittsburgh.

All wrong. 

OTAs are overwhelmingly when they all get their wind back. 

For high impact positions like running back, it's not possible for them to "get stronger" or whatever it is you think is happening. Their bodies are just too destroyed during the regular season. These articles are just click bait for low info readers who buy men's health magazine. 

Another good article was jameis Winston losing 10-15 pounds since January. Well yeah that's when he's sitting on a couch just recovering for four weeks no poo.

Lol I assure you, I know a little bit more about how the body works then you.  I said nothing about them getting stronger during the season, they best they can hope to do is maintain and even that is difficult.  

 

I was referring to right now, the offseason, I don't know where you'er getting in season from.

They've began organized team activities and workouts, therefore they should be at a calorie surplus to ensure they are able to maintain peak energy for long durations.  Cutting weight would have been more ideal in the last 3 months.  If they are in a severe calorie deficit now, they will not be able to survive OTAs or training camp, but they could go into a minimum deficit and slow cut.

I disagree.  Weight makes an enormous difference for many positions.  Running back being one of them.

Well I've trained nfl players and am on my way to PA school for sports med as we speak so unless you're like literally a resident kindly blow me

If you can't see that and keep wanting to turn things like this back around on T-Mac, then you're just either being purposefully obtuse, or is a fan who is happy having 5-6 win seasons just because we're so used to the 3-4 win seasons and you like "just being better"

Who then after being fired from that job, took over a team that was 30-18 in the 3 seasons before he got the job, got into the playoffs that first season, lost their first postseasons game, and then went on to have a 6-26 record over the next 2 seasons? You're literally proving my point by bringing up someone who's claim to fame is that quote. If you just play to win the game, you're never going to be a successful franchise.  You need to play to win the game while ALSO working to make your players better.  Having the former without the latter is a picture perfect recipe to become a stagnant franchise. That's how you work towards being a winning franchise who can contend in the postseason.  And sure, having a stagnant franchise that makes the playoffs every other season is better than what we currently are, but that's not what I strive for with our Panthers, I want to actually contend for championships in my lifetime.
