Quarterback Tiers

Cam Newton QB / Carolina Panthers

The most physically gifted and physically imposing quarterback in the NFL who was a super-worthy MVP last year. He has more trophies and more title game appearances in his future. He lifts a very limited offensive cast each and every week and finds new ways to keep winning football games. He's also maturing each year as well, though he's still prone to a misstep or two.

I agree with that assessment mostly.  Of the others on the list I feel like Eli is too high even with two Superbowls, Teddy Bridgewater is a category low.  But the main thing I took out of this article is that Matt Ryan is the worst QB in our division.  Suck it Falcons!

Jason La Canfora did a good job with this article. I feel strange because I'm used to train wreck articles that I have to bitch about.

Wilson and Cam will be at war for many years to come. Brees is falling due to age. His arm just doesn't have the power anymore.

The Palmer ranking makes no sense at all to me.  He debated putting him in Tier 2... or Tier 5?  I'm no Dalton fan by any stretch, but his ranking caught my eye for comparison.  He's Tier 4 because, "Lack of anything close to success in truly big games is damning with me."  He's been to the playoffs every year he's been in the league.  Yeah, he's lost them all, but he's played in the same amount of playoff games as Palmer, and is 9 years younger.  Palmer is 2 Tiers higher, and he's never done jack poo.  Hell, two of his four playoff appearances ever, were this past season, and the dude is bout to be 37.  Just puts a giant turd stain on his whole ranking system.

He can say they are "tiers" but I call bs.

If you read the other "assessments" it is clear he is not only creating tiers he is ranking them within the tiers.  I just think it is yet another stupid ranking of qb's with Cam listed as 7th best.  He clearly struggled with putting Brees and Romo in tier two.

He groups Luck with the "young stars"?  Says his time on the bench will serve him well?

stupid offseason is stupid

    • That's a very incorrect statement right off the bat, coaches get fired for winning ugly all the time.  Every coach of a playoff team that then gets fired, got fired because they won ugly and didn't improve their players enough to win in the postseason. Guys like Andy Reid have been fired for "winning ugly" like you said, because they kept winning in spite of the improvement of their players. Also, "this is a fanbase starved for wins" is a statement I also don't agree with, I'm not "starved for wins", I'm "starved for a winning and contending franchise" which are two VERY different things. If the team and fans just want to win some games, then that's a loser mentality, sorry, but it is.  We should want to contend, not win a handful of games.  Every time this comes up I point back to the Lions the last 5 years or so.  They were losing games but improving every week while doing so a few years back.  THAT is how you improve as a franchise and move the needle towards contending, not winning games ugly.
    • Good lord. I don’t think I have ever seen a hole that open.
    • this is true.  But NFL Ss and defenses are actively taking that away and playing to take them away vs most teams.  The problem thus far in BY's career......is they are cheating and not respecting the deep game which makes the smaller/mid range game harder to pull off.  and Dallas is an anomaly game.  using those random games that run counter to vast work......doesn't really change the discussion/issues in Carolina.  Bryce Young took the shots this week because they were not just NFL open but college open.    Wide open dudes downfield that really were coverage busts/issues.
