Do you despise Roger Goodell?

A lot of fan bases hate Roger Goodell. A lot of players hate Roger Gooddell. Some have valid reasons, some don't.

Has his "wrath" ever really effected the Panthers or any of its players?  Do you think he is good for the sport?

The only situation I can think of where he had influence was with Greg Hardy, but Hardy is an asshat.

I have no problem with him at all. People tend to forget what the league was like before he took over. Pac-man Jones was making it rain in strip clubs and players were straight up acting a fool. He was hired to clean up their off field behavior. Guys still get into trouble no doubt but its not like it used to be. Not to mention they gave him all of that power so I hate it when players complain.

but Cam was making it rain in the strip club 3 weeks ago.

Anyway he runs the NFL with an iron fist handing out 4 game suspensions like candy. it doesnt seem to be any rhyme or reason to anything but the drug policy. that said its very hard to cry for some guy making million while he complains about how he cant play because assaulted his girlfriend,

I know Saints fans hate Gordell for punishing Sean Payton and Gregg Williams unfairly.  I think I recall about seven of their fans protesting.

If you factor in the percentage of Saints fans that have internet thats a pretty good showing.

I think he screwed up spygate. I don't think he was harsh enough. You suspend Sean Payton for his defensive coordinator running an injury pool but let Bill off for getting caught cheating red handed. No consistency there. That and the Ray Rice debacle...  Now that I ponder those are pretty severe f&?! Ups.

He's a smart guy and is the PR rep for all the owners. He does his job. There have been screw ups (spygate and Ray Rice as was mentioned) but those are failures in policies from the NFL which he may oversee but, again, is a total function of the owners. I don't really have any issue with him.

I don't have a problem with him at all. He has to make major decisions that will in one way or another affect his company and 32 others. He deals with sponsors, the government at times and other enormous issues that most of us couldn't fathom. People just like to point the finger at him even if they don't understand his role.

He has made mistakes, but show me someone who doesn't and I'll show you a liar.

    • Yeah this needs to happen ASAP. I don’t care if the price is lower. These Vikings fans on Twitter are absolutely insufferable. Acting like they have been world beaters for the last 60 years and thinking Carolina should just hand him over for nothing. We’ve had 7 or so tough seasons in a row and we have still been to two superbowls since they have and won more playoff games since 1995.    I hope Dan sends him to Detroit for a 2040 7th rounder and eats half the contract. Even Sheena is replying to them.
    • I hope your cath went well
    • So did the Panthers initiate this by making him "available for the right price" or was this something Thielen himself pushed for? I also never saw this quote he made about JJ McCarthy back in June. https://sports.yahoo.com/article/panthers-adam-thielen-both-asked-182711572.html Thielen believes McCarthy is built for big moments and will eventually show the world the skillset that won the Michigan Wolverines a national championship in 2023/2024. He even said McCarthy could be the “face of the league.” “I have high expectations for him. I've been able to be around a little bit through some of the time last summer... back in Minnesota, and I think he has the ability to be one of the great quarterbacks this season and the face of this league at some point. You know, I think he's got every tool and intangible that you can have,” Thielen said. “Obviously, it's a difficult league and it's not gonna just be easy, but I think he has the ability to handle adversity to be able to be big in big moments, as you saw when he was in college. I think he's got a great support staff around him, whether it be the coaches or the trainers.” Sounds like he's had one foot out the door for some time now.
