A receiver like Smitty is all the Panthers needed in the SB to loosen up that defense and give Cam a quick outlet that always fought to get open for his QB. The KB and Smitty combo would have been devastating for opposing defenses.

Smitty played for Baltimore and KB was injured. Other than that, the SB was ours!!

You can't really say that because you have no idea if he would have stayed healthy all the way to the Super Bowl.

I can say that for certain. The Broncos employed a defensive scheme that relied heavily on attacking downhill with 1 or 2 DBs depending on where Olsen was in each particular set. This allowed the Broncos to play with 8 to 9 players in the box and contain Cam in the pocket.

This was a huge middle finger to the WRs of the Panthers, and it paid off as the receivers dropped balls and had trouble getting open off the ball.

One receiver that could dominate 1 on 1 match ups was all the Panthers needed against that Broncos defense to force the DBs to get off the run and respect the pass. This would have slowed the pass rush and made the ILBs more accountable to the inside run with little help from DBs slashing through the gaps.

But Smitty was on IR.

What the fug are you talking about? Smitty and KB were both on IR. Neither would have been available for the super bowl. Please think about the whole picture before you post 5000 words about nothing
