Eh, after seeing the issues, it's fine with me.  Maybe a mistake, maybe not.  Time will tell.    But we seem to not have to worry about punting now.  Which is good.

I give a rat fug about his avg punt or net punt yards blah frigging blah...I love those 300+ pins inside the 20 though.  If he is averaging over 45 yards a punt for us we will have bigger concerns than draft picks.

Except in the case of a guy like Colquitt, he's a vested veteran and thus would not be subject to waivers, but free to negotiate with any team he wanted.

Nortman sucked, but I don't see the point.  Redfern looked pretty good in my estimation...  good enough that we didn't need to give up a draft pick to bring someone else in, imo.  this was horribly managed.

If you disagree that the punter is the least important position on the team, it's on you to come up with one less important. Did I say it was completely useless and unimportant? Nope! Just said it was the least important position on the team, which is a true statement.

Punter was the single biggest weakness on this team. We just solved it with one of the best punters in the league.

Ok, let's be REALISTIC about this trade.  When you look at trading a 4th for a punter, it's crazy, except I think gettleman is planning on us drafting at the end of the round, making it almost a 5th, conversely, the Browns WILL draft early so their 7th is basically a 6th.  When you realize that we basically traded a 5th for a 6th, it's much easier.  Lastly, field position and ball control is our offense, and you can't control field position if your punter is trash.  This is a good trade and will help us more than most realize.

We are playing for an NFL Championship.  No future 4th round pick is gonna get us closer than a pro-bowl kicker this year.

Not that I disagree but that would sort of go against Gentleman's theory of not believing in windows.
