Players who hurt/helped themselves (game4)

After tonight I wonder if we keep Cash and cut Jacobs or keep both?

The RB situation is tough as all 4 backs had great nights.

Marcus Lucas once again leading all TEs in catches, gotta wonder if he can make the squad. Simonson had a drop and I watched Sandland get manhandled in pass protection.

I believe D Byrd will make the squad but cutting Bersin after tonight's game seems unlikely. Norwood will probably go to IR or get an injury settlement, I hope his injury isn't serious.

I wonder how many offensive linemen will we keep since Yankey, Scott, Hawkins and Larsen all were decent.

HELPED

Cameron Artis-Payne - Ran exceedingly well even without good blocking.

HURT

Brandon Wegher - With the same group blocking for him that blocked for CAP, looked average at best.

Both Wegher and Payne ran well to the outside but CAP had much better vision and found seams and cutback lanes inside where Wegher struggled between the tackles and was not quick to the hole. So the defense swarmed Brandon while CAP and even Simmons found creases and were more physical after contact.

Helped:

David Mayo looks like a legit NFL LB and not just a ST

Hurt:

Teddy Williams is fast, but he's overwhelmingly a liability. It's hard to understand why it's necessary for him to have a roster spot

Agree. Teddy Williams is strictly a special teams ace. We're in trouble if he ever has to play CB for us.

Helped:

Andy Lee - Went from a Pro Bowl punter to All-Pro Hall of Fame status with elite holding skills and used alchemy mixed with mind control to force a muffed punt.

Brenton Bersin - Caught several passes and made a tackle on special teams. Probably solidified his roster spot.

Keyarris Garrett - Might have a chance on the practice squad now after he was cheated out of that one-handed TD catch.

I really hope Lucas makes the team, he's easily our second best receiving TE.

I want to believe Lucas can be a good TE for the Panthers but I don't know if he has the blocking ability and I could be wrong but I believe most of his catches came late in the game against 2nd and 3rd stringers.

As bad as Sandland has played I don't know if I'm worried because plenty of good tight ends didn't have good a rookie preseason and have done well. It's a position that can take time to develop.

    • Don't have to be miss cleo. His weakness are length, athleticism, creating his own shot, defense, finishing at the rim,  Strengths - shooting and IQ.   Likely won't work as non athletic shooters don't typically work.

    • I live in Indiana and took a trip that weekend to watch my two friend's teams play (Chiefs and Vikings) IN Minnesota when they were playing at a college field, I think TCF? Anyways, our plan was to watch the game (noon game) then do some shopping at the Mall of America, I wasn't planning on watching the Panthers play Seattle since I was out sight seeing and walking around after the noon game had ended. By the time we were walking back into the Mall the Panthers were down by 2 scores in the 4th or going into the 4th and we were all thirsty from walking around for 2.5 hours after the Vikings game so we decided to postpone shopping until after we ate. We found this nice little sports bar inside the mall that had the game on. Man, I'm so glad we skipped shopping because that was probably the most excited I've been in some time for a win. Beating Seattle in 2015 felt like the "monkey off the back" sort of feeling and I knew we had finally arrived as a team. The entire bar erupted when Cam hit Olsen for that walk off TD. Literally one of the greatest moments of my life. My friend wasn't so happy though lol, by the time the Panthers game ended ALL of the stores inside the mall had closed and he wasn't able to get any souvenirs. It was his first time watching a Vikings game live and making a trip like that so he was legit upset lol. I on the other hand couldn't have been happier.
