Mike Tolbert pays $3,900 bill in change

Really disappointed in Tolbert. I've had tons of work done at this shop and I've seen what they were doing to his car.

These guys are very professional and good at what they do and take any form of payment except the cashiers check that Tolbert tried to pay with.

He has a early 70s model Cadillac that he wanted to swap a modern ls3 into. While the engine bay is big enough to easily hold the engine the wiring harness alone that it takes to make a modern day engine talk to a car from the 70s makes it a little more than a simple swap. Despite all that they were able to swap the motor as asked by Tolbert. The issue was the aftermarket suspension he had on the car. He had 26 inch rims on the car and a suspension lift to make them fit..which worked fine with the old 350 motor in the car. But with the new ls3 being much lighter it caused the front end to sit much higher. When they told him it was going to be extra to complete the job because of these issues he wanted them to do the job for free because he was Mike Tolbert...sorry for the mini rant but these guys have always taken great care of my car and do amazing work.

why should I be outraged at this?

No need to be outraged, but

I had to call the police on Mike Tolbert. He and his buddy threatened me. CMPD actually banned him from the property today. They forced him to pay his bill before leaving though

It was close to escalating. If want to, he could press charges and there would be a 37 page thread about it

Not at all professional if they quoted him 10 days and took over 2 months to complete the work.

They should have comped him for the labor over 10 days. That is on the business for under bidding a job.to get the work by defrauding the customer.

He should have had to pay parts and 10 days labor. If they charged him for more than 2 months of labor, then that is on them and Tolbert could have taken this to civil court.

Also, not very professional or smart of any business to handle this matter in the media. They could very well lose a lot of high end work.

They should be delighted he paid, no matter the form of payment, after they defrauded a customer of more than 2 months of labor costs, if they charged him for it.

I would not go there simply based on how they handle their customers. If they do this to customers who have money to keep coming back, then how do they treat the average person?

In fairness to all sides...we don't know any conversations that took place.

I'm sure neither side is giving the reality of it.  Probably both sides are partially true.

All I need to know is how the business handles their clients. They demonstrated that very well, and the feedback they get said their customer care is for poo.

I still hope they comped Tolbert the labor over the bid for his time and money for their mistakes and delay.

I'm the average person and they have treated me great...I refer anyone I talk to doing custom work to them.

They charged him exactly what they quoted him...but with any kind of custom work you never know what issues your going to run into. Especially when working with aftermarket car parts. When they told him it was going to be more than the original estimate because of the issues they stopped all work because he refused to pay anymore. the car sat in the corner of there shop for 2 months until yesterday when he came to pick it up

Hardly seems your the average person. You better stop. You are making the company look less trustworthy needing to defend itself in social media and online forums.

After your comments, the article they seemingly allowed, and what I see on their facebook page I will never go there or recommend them to anyone. In fact, I will advise extreme caution to anyone I know who may be going there, and to make sure they do not try to take advantage of them.

They need to publicly apologize for treating a paying customer like this, possibly fire whoever orchestrated this mess, and then make amends with Tolbert publicly.

Horrible business practices.

So, let me get this straight. Tolbert is perfectly in the right for blowing up this business on social media, but the business has no right in defending themselves and telling their side? Right....

Truly one of the worst posters on this board. Everything you say is asinine.
