Gettleman will be here this year, next year and the year after that.

Need a new team Op?

I was "here" before Gettleman, and I'll be "here" after.  Again, I don't have an issue with Gettleman.  I have praised him for his great moves, but I'm not going to bite my tongue when I know he's fuged something up.  Might seem excessive, but I have to turn it up a notch to get the message across to people who refuse to believe he's capable of mistakes.  My issue isn't with Gettleman.  My issue is with how he handled things and how it negatively affected our team.

point blank we could have kept norman under the tag, which would have gave us a lot of flexibility come draft day.

it was a bad move, just like releasing smith, just like not finding a replacement for gross.......what makes these bad moves is we had ZERO backup plan to replace these players besides rolling the dice in the draft ....gotta do better

An "I told you so" thread from a freaking moderator?  Good grief....Igo needs a minimum age limit older than 12 to be a mod in this joint.

He can't serve crow to dumbfugs because of his mod status? That's stupid thinking. He's completely right.

Coverage sacks. That was last year. The line wasn't anything amazing last year but Norman helped tremendously with coverage sacks. I said this when we lost Norman and I hate it came true. Not to mention our safeties are showing their true colors because they have to help so much on both sides instead of trusting Norman to shut his side down. It's all relative. Also his energy.

LOL, these dudes would love a Stalin-esque society where I'd be shot in the street for questioning gettleman.  It's ridiculous.

The "and he's a mod herp deruuuup" card is always a favorite.  Oh well, can't help their butthurt.

Man, I have pretty much expressed those exact thoughts since the move went down.  Every aspect of it...  When I said the "fit" was perfect for us and Josh, I didn't just mean skillset.  I meant in terms of presence and energy as well, like you pointed out.  Sometimes, you need some flat out dogs.  And Josh is that guy.  And in terms of skillset, I made that same point earlier in the thread about coverage sacks.  People keep talking about the pass rush, but it's the old chicken or the egg argument.  When Josh was here, the opposing QB would often get sacked after being in the pocket for just as long as Ryan was today...  the difference was, they never had anyone come open to throw to.  And I'm not saying Josh was solely and entirely responsible for that, but when you know one guy is going to lock his side of the field down, you can help in other areas where players won't.  Now, we don't have anyone that we can depend on to handle their side of the field and it has our entire secondary scrambling around lost.

The difference in what we reportedly offered and what Josh ended up getting paid.  A lot of ya'll get pissed off at me for my "I told you so"'s, but for as much poo as I took during the whole Norman debacle, I got to give it back.  So, here it is...  I TOLD YOU.  The system didn't make Josh.  He was worth the money, and I said we would regret it.  I said Gettleman far too often appeared to get caught up in emotions and personal ego battles, and that in Josh's case, that appeared to rear its ugly head again.

I was lambasted for not toeing the company line and not blindly accepting every single move Gettleman made as the right one.  Now you see why I don't?  Just because they are professionals doesn't make them perfect or infallible.  Those same people who were mad at me for angrily speaking out about how the situation was handled were the same ones who hung onto and swore by Gettleman's every word.  He said he doesn't panic.  He said he doesn't draft for need.

BUT, He was anxious about KK leaving so he drafted ANOTHER FIRST ROUND DT, then he knew we had nothing behind Norman so he drafted Bradberry and then proceeded to waste three more picks (one included in a trade for Worley) on a couple of bums at CB in a desperate effort to replace Norman, one of which didn't even make the team and the other shouldn't be on the team.  That's four picks used to compensate for the loss of Norman and only one of them looks like a viable NFL prospect (Bradberry).  Oh, and if you didn't catch that, he wasn't exactly honest in his statements of not drafting for need or not panicking.  But hey, at least he got to swang some dick around in the media about what a badass he is.

Sounds like we have a regular damn Scarface on our hands here...

So here we are company yes men...  The boss isn't always right.  Now all we can do is sit back and enjoy the shitshow.  I don't remember ever seeing our secondary ever look so bad in the history of our franchise.  It's embarrassing.  So, in summary...  We are sitting here today, following a 15-1 season, an NFC Championship, a Superbowl run, at 1-3, with our FRANCHISE QB injured after getting the poo beat out of him for 4 weeks, KK Short unsigned, those "resources" we saved by not signing Josh to what he deserved still unallocated in any meaningful way, and a secondary that likely would be cut from arena league teams.

If you were set on keeping that money, you should've at least invested it in protecting our QB, shoring up the secondary with actual NFL-level talent, or any other number of things that weren't the lateral moves that you made in their stead.

FOUR MILLION DOLLARS.  Gettleman...

Our front 7 made josh, and that's the truth. We aren't getting the pressure we used to get and because of that, the secondary is getting exposed bad. In games where we didn't get pressure, Norman got burned too. That's just the facts.

Every CB gets burned but you shoud check out the opposing #WRs stat sheet when they faced Norman supermajoirty of the time it was low.

LOL, if telling yourself that makes you feel better have at it...  but, it's not true.

Did you see that release Julio got on our DBs today?  Unless McDermott can invent a real life nano blitz that sacks the opposing QB in .00001 seconds, no amount of pressure was gonna stop Ryan from lobbing those balls up over the top and praying for the best.  There were too many plays to count where the DBs may have not even been standing on the field...  they got burned on the press and when they weren't pressing they were backed off 15 yards from the LOS getting toasted on ins, out routes, and slants.

    • Derrick Brown was one player I never called or even suggested was a bust . Dude was young and hadn't even hit his stride. It takes time to learn the position. The thing I appreciated about him is that he kept improving season after season. He got paid and keeps on going like the Energizer Bunny.
    • How many teams coddle their QB the way Bryce has been coddled? I have never seen any other team in the NFL EVER baby a QB the way that Bryce has been.  Bryce was named day 1 starter his first year. It was obvious he didnt deserve it. He wasnt ready as evidenced by the worst rookie year in NFL history.  So let's move to year 2. He's named starter again with no competition in TC and is benched 2 games later. We have the ghost of a backup in Dalton who is so bad he can only beat Vegas and let's remember, the only reason he lost his starting job was a car accident, not because Bryce actually beat him out in practice.  And year 3. We sign Dalton again, who already proved he couldn't be depended on to put an even remotely passable performance on the field, and bring back Jack Plummer, who was even worse than last year. It was obvious he was nothing more than a pretend body in an attempt to create an illusion of some type of attempt to find a backup.  Then we start again with garbage play again and Bryce gets benched with a phantom injury, and the ghost of the ghost of Dalton breaks his thumb on the first drive and craps the field all over again. If we had actually made an attempt to find a legitimate QB2, it's possible Bryce doesn't step on the field again. Bryce is not agood QB and if we had any other mediocre QB, our record would be the same or better.  Bryce is not entrenched. He's been placed, protected and sheltered from ever having to face a  real QB competition in TC. Richardson and Levis both were ass and both were benched and eventually replaced.  Do I expect Baker to face competition in camp? Sure. I expect Tampa to find the best QB2 they can at price that fits their cap and resources and system and get him up to speed. If he's better than Baker, and if he's better by a significant margin, that's best for the team. The ultimate goal is a Super Bowl. Bellichek was constantly getting QB2s with the GOAT as his starter. He knew the value and that was realized when Cassell led them to an 11-5 record as a backup.  You and I may think differently than the people that matter but I will say it again. If you're afraid to bring in a capable backup, especially after the debacle of last year. The starting role wasn't earned, it was given, and that's loser mentality.
    • I would have done the same thing.  LSU is a much better job than Ole Miss.  Plus the enormous contract and every advantage a college team can offer in terms of recruiting and facilities and tradition etc
