Well they probably tried to settle it privately without using the courts(lawyers ain't cheap) then once they realized they weren't getting anywhere they sued.

I suspect they had an attorney trying to reach out to Newton's representatives but to no avail hence they are filling suit now

I don't trust anything TMZ says about anyone, tbh. I don't know that I believe it but I also don't put anything past anyone. I imagine he would have settled this privately though.

I doubt that Cam caused the damage personal but he probably threw a party and it got out of hand. You rent a place you're responsible for paying for the damage. If they can prove the rug cost $30,000+, add in new flooring in a nice mansion (which is expensive as fug), and a fridge and I don't see $90,000 being unreasonable. If it was someone trying to be money hungry and take advantage of a celebrity I would expect them to ask for way more.

TMZ has been one of the more reliable sources recently honestly. The pay people a lot of money to get scoops and broke a lot of stories. They were the first to report when Prince died and the Donald Sterling tapes.  I don't like their coverage or what they do but I can't deny that they have well placed people to get info.

TMZ hasn't been very reliable. Yes the Prince, MJ and Sterling thing but as far as celebrity gossip, they're terrible. There was a story involving Chris Brown recently that was fabricated and TMZ ran it, twisted details. You and I could concoct a story and send it to TMZ. They pay for the gossip. So I don't really trust it until they post court documents (which they're known to do).
