What would it take for Rivera and Co. to get fired after this season?

Rivera is the one in charge of personnel on defense. He left 7 starters on the bench while we stuggled to get TB off the field on 3 rd down. Inexcusable. Flat out fugging dumb! This team needs new life. Hope Jim Schwartz gets offered a contract here if we go 1-15. Rivera has lost this locker room oh how reminiscent of the John Fox era this is.

For the record Bill belichik was garbage in Detroit too. That's if anyone claims "ohhhh but Jim Schwartz was a dumpster fire in Detroit comment. Look at what his defense has done.360 degree turnaround for Philly. This team has no physicality no heart anymore. That's a head coach problem not a offensive coordinator problem. And yes Shula needs to be fired but our woes are this entire coaching staff. It's pure garbage, we just need to own up to the fact that cam and the extremely fortunate healthy panthers saved the fug out of Ron last season.

Belichick was the receivers coach for the Lions in 1977.. Are you sure their WR play was so bad as to call him garbage?

This is somewhat true, but Rivera is not Gettleman's boss either.  Gentleman isn't going to fire himself and if he is fired by the Big Cat (not gonna happen), then you can guarantee Rivera is 100% gone when a new GM comes in.

Either way, if Rivera wants a job, he better start winning with this roster he doesn't, as you say, "trust".

Gettleman has restricted the coaches by forcing his picks on Rivera as the solution for the starters. Ealy is not the answer at DE. Never was. Bradberry, Worley, and Sanchez are not cut out to play at the NFL level, and it will will likely take 3 years before Gettleman agrees to cut them. Bene was better than all 3 of them, and he was still no better than a nickel CB. Look where he is now. The GM made it too easy for offenses to get around the front 5. That is not on the coaches. They are trying to stretch that front 5 to cover for the other 4 positions on defense.

On offense, that OT position has been left to rot for 3 seasons. The coaches are having to compensate by leaving extra blockers in to protect the OTs. It is like playing 9 on 11. Also, the ineffectiveness of the WRs has been left without attention for the past 3 seasons. 50% catch rates are not acceptable in the NFL, and Gettleman is fine with an entire unit made up of inconsistent WR play. KB is great when he catches the ball. Ginn, Brown, and Funchess are a liability when you compound all 3. 1 of them is enough as a #3 WR. Having all 3 on the field is asking for trouble. The Panthers are still missing that game breaker at WR. KB is a strong #2 WR. The Panthers need a threat at WR to break the game open whenever he touches the ball.

Last season the coaches could win, because they solidified their starting secondary and could manage the weak DB depth. They also got Allen for more disciplined play at DE. Without those components the defense is exposed.

I'm not saying I totally disagree.  I'm saying Gettleman doesn't see it your way and he's the boss.  Gentleman clearly thought this team's personnel could get it done.  I think he hand-cuffed the roster a bit, but I still think the team is a lot better than what we have seen.

That is the problem. He keeps thinking the personnel he puts on the team is enough.

The truth is the team leans on players that have been around since 2011/2012.

We know what an all rookie secondary gets an NFL defense. History has proven that, and still this narrative of the Panthers front 7 is go good it can cover the worst secondary in Panthers history was pushed. It is not even a front seven, it is a front 5. That front 7 was destroyed back in 2014 and never replaced. They got by with better discipline at DE with Jared Allen. Moving Ealy to a reserve role was a must, and it still is. There is no one on the team to allow Ealy to me moved to a reserve role this season. I believe Gettleman wanted it that way because he wants Ealy to start.

The offense lacks serious depth at RB when Fozzy is the best they have. The WRs are inconsistent, and have been since 2014. At least Cotchery was a safe bet on 3rd down near the sticks. Now the Panthers lack a reliable 3rd down receiving threat to compliment Olsen. We all know the OT position has been left to rot since 2014. No improvements except the slight improvement from Bell to Oher, which is still positioning the team to be among worst in the NFL at OT.

How many off seasons should it take to find a franchise OT, a dependable 3rd down receiver, a good back up RB, and a pass rushing threat at DE? Finding good young CBs usually means developing them over 3 years before they are any good. When you develop a good CB, you at least want to hold on to 1 of them for 3 seasons while you develop another. If you get lucky, then you have 2 really good CBs to choose from. If you have the one CB developed, that also allows the team to rent out a vet CB for a year or two. That is essentially what every SB caliber team does at CB.

There are 3 spots on a team that can not be manned with inexperience/rookies to have a SB contender. QB, MLB, and the entire secondary.

This is not hindsight. It is proven.
