For the Panthers now, and Cam's future, Shula has to go

Shula isn't getting canned unless Gettleman/Richardson fires him because Ron is content with the poo he's calling.

Part of me sees what you are alluding too. But IMO, RR has kept Shula around for Cam. From everything I heard, they have a great relationship. They work together to make sure that Cam is happy with the game plan. That continuity is important. I

Also, execution. We fans get all the info of the junior employees. We get limited field coverage from tv. Yet, we all seem to know exactly what was supposed to happen. Sometimes I think we get a little bit full of ourselves.

For the most part, the Offense did well. Cap, and Fozzy combined for almost 150 yds. Anderson had a good night. Not a whole lot of penalties. But, man, those TOs. DAs fumble was close to FG range, and the end zone INT, ouch. That's 10 pts.

We led the league in TO differential, and points off TOs last year. This year we have 9 INTs, and 2 fumbles, just from our QBs, and are bottom of the league in TO differential.

Our Offense is doing well, when we don't shoot ourselves in the foot. So to me, Shula is not the only one to blame for the lack of points.

Last year, our Offense, and Shula we being lauded for how complex our O was. And how much command Cam had. Same OC, same QB, different results. And everybody and their dogs are trying to figure out what the problem is.

Kinda got carried away there.

Let's go with two good titles, and one 7-9 season where we got lucky because the rest of the division was somehow worse.

3 Championship in a row, is still 3 Championships in a row. Not our fault no one could take it away from us.

Now if your were to go the "Still no back to back winning seasons" route. I'd be behind that.

Cam may like to run, but he never does anymore except on designed plays. He never improvises anymore. In other words, he's too scared to do what made him great. And that's all on Shula's infuriating playcalling.

Are you kidding me? He doesn't run because Passing Cam Newton is better than running Cam Newton. What makes him great is his arm not legs. You bitch because he is running but yet you want him to run. Brilliant.

Why is that?

I want a proven OC.

If that is impossible then I want a position coach who has learned under a great offensive mind.

RP doesn't really check neither box.

None the less that doesn't matter because I'd fire Shula and let RP finish the season. If he does good then retain him another yr.

So those close to Cam telling him to preserve his body and not take so many hits, arent including the coaches?  I thought I heard Rivera publically say on multiple occasions that he thinks that Cam is taking too many hits. It seems as teh season has progressed he is running less.  Do you think that is him or a focus from the coaches?

Lets be real here, we had this debate in 2014 and again in 2015.  I think the general consensus was as he ages he is going to have change from running to being more of a pocket passer.

A large part of the hits he takes is from holding the ball which is largely his fault.  Unlike Anderson who throws to spots and quickly decides what to do, Cam has always thrown to receivers and waited for them to get open rather than throwing them open or throwing to spots.  So he has to wait for them to get open, see them open, and then try and whip the ball in quickly before the defense closes.   That always take a lot more time than a quarterback who throws the ball before a receiver makes his break or dumps it off right away rather than doing it as he is getting hammered.

Cam will likely always be a see it send it QB.  Lot's of great ones are, but they are also the ones who can be the most infuriating to watch play.

Brilliant one quarter, baffling the next.

Cam is a gunslinger, I don't think that's ever going to change.....and we should hope that the coaching staff doesn't try to make him change.

Cam made Shula look good. think of all the "wow" plays Cam's generated. any other QB in that system is getting sacked on those 3rd and longs and going 3 and out. most of the comebacks have involved at least one improvised scramble by Cam that almost no other QB in the NFL could pull off (maybe Wilson).

Why not forego an OC and just let Cam call his own plays?

So would every D Coordinator in the league.

you must not have watched much football in 2010 then. i'm exaggerating, but every D Coordinator in the league is already licking their chops at the opportunity to blitz often and early, knowing that our gameplan won't change no matter what they throw at us.

I'm trying to get you to see that's it not just one person or thing.

Team does well and some people it was only Cam or a couple of guys. Team does bad its GM or coaches or some other player.

The answer is its a little bit of everything.

If we got a new Coordinator tomorrow and the team got WORSE then what's the solution after that?

Shula and Cam and others found the right formula last year. Unfortunately their worst performance came at the worst possible time

Now nothing and i mean nothing is going right.

I think a tweaks/trades is more in order than a total blow up.
