You are handed the keys to the stadium. You have just been nomiated GM of the Carolina Panthers. What do you do right now to turn things around?

I asked this question in another poo posting thread with no takers. As of RIGHT NOW, what would you do to turn it around as the Panthers GM. Not last week, or the week before, right now. I see a lot of complaints here, but I don't see any solutions other than Dave, Ron, and Mike has to go! As if that will magically fix things. So, what would you do? Complaints get us nowhere. I want to see some solutions from the huddlers here for a change. Put on your nipple shorts grab the facility keys to the stadium and let us hear it.

Trade for Joe Haden & Gary Barndinge

A) Fire Shula. Cam Newton threw for 4,000 yards as rookie with no training camp. He doesn't need the run-pass option training wheels.  The entire offense is designed to disguise Shula's piss poor game planning by using Cam's athleticism so this dude can keep his job.

B) Go to a double tide-end system that takes advantage of Cam's mobility outside of the pocket.

C) Get younger at the RB position. This is not something that should be done, but has to be done.

D) Use Philly Brown more. The team needs more quickness in the short to intermediate  plays at the WR position.

E)Upgrade OT position.

F) Sign some veteran DB's for the love of God.

So most of you would piss and moan if handed the GM job RIGHT NOW.

Since none of you can list anything specific besides firing all the coaches (which will do wonders for our game prep for next week), can we assume that pissing and moaning is pretty much it for you guys?

Begin my OC search for next season,, this is non negotiable Ron.

Study our team the rest of the season to see who stays, who goes. Re-sign some of our key pieces at the end of the season coming off contracts.

Prepare for the draft, and prepare for Free Agency signings as we'll have some cash to dabble with.

Id put every personnel decision up to a poll posted on the huddle, so if poo went south i could just blame you guys.

Really though, i still think gettleman is a good GM that got ahead of himself. I dont think its worth firing him yet. Im still concerned but i still have some faith in him, im not just gonna act like he hasnt done good things for us.

Ron and shula prob. gone though.

    • Sounds like the pressure of all the fans wanting him fired might finally be getting to him... That, or Rico said "trade me now if you aren't going to make me the lead back"
    • I have been paying so little attention after losses (and wins, actually, because I'm mildly excited by them), that I missed Dave's seeming change of heart on Rico and Chuba.  Just when I criticized him for not being able to make the tough decisions and wanting to be Mr. Politically Correct nice guy, when asked about the timeshare between Chuba and Rico, he says:   "We cannot ignore the fact that Rico has been exceptional in a couple of games and in the opportunities he's had over the last two weeks. He's made some excellent plays, love the tempo and violence that he's running with. And these are all things we're talking about and working through this week as we look back on these last four games and really taking a snapshot of what's been successful for us. These are conversations that we do definitely have to have."   On basically whether or not it was his job to keep the RBs "happy," DC replied:   "Yeah, that's not the goal," he replied. "The goal is to make sure we put the right guys out there. That's my job. So I really do have to look at that and evaluate it and make the best decision for the Panthers, collectively. And for me, I have to make sure I keep it about the football."   So now all of a sudden, he knows his job. Well, some of you might say that he always knew his job. My response is that he surely wasn't putting it into action. You watch what people do, not what they say. And that even applies here. We'll actually see if his actions match the words of his newfound epiphany pertaining to our two top RBs., something that we saw a couple of weeks ago (or at least a week ago).    https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/10/27/panthers-week-8-dave-canales-rico-dowdle-chuba-hubbard/86923984007/
    • Just about everyone I have ever seen that was a first time HC, mostly successful coordinators, said there was stuff they couldn’t have imagined.  Canales only had one season as a coordinator. A steep learning curve should be expected. Help in the form of a mentor would have been a good idea.
