Vanilla Defense

Remember during the preseason when everyone was saying(include me as well), don't worry, we are not game planning for the preseason.

OR

It's a vanilla defense.

OR

We don't want to show our hand.

OR

This new Defense under Meeks is a run to the ball and attack defense.

OR

We will be fine without Kemo, he wasn't an impact player anyway.

How the tide has changed! Now its:

1) Now Peppers can or should play anywhere.(Can he kick it for a touchback?)

2) Ron Meeks is no better here than with the colts.

3) Jake is the anti-christ.

4) Mark Richardson has kidnapped Peppers and is holding him for a 16 million dollar ransom.

5) Dwayne Jarrett is a excellent player, he just needs a chance.

6) Lets not start with Fox!

Well looks like we got a triple scoop of vanilla, thats how I would describe our game plan thus far. Special teams on the other hand, well that would be a big scoop of crap. A great coach makes a average team great and a average coach makes a mess every other year.

Thats the only way I can see getting him both motivated and him getting pressure on the QB consistently. Even the years Pep had awesome sack numbers they didn't tell the whole story. IMO pressure is more important then Sacks. Any QB in the league makes bad decisions (IE TO's or INC) when under constant pressure and this has never been Peps best strength. Some plays he looks unstoppable while others he can't beat a 2nd string T. He is just inconsistent and for the Money he gets paid that shouldn't be the case.

Trust me I hate the term "vanilla". My point is, we look at our team sometimes with binders on. That is untill games start to matter, then the sky falls. Some of the off-season moves have been questionable at best. As far as Peppers is concerned if a million dollars a game doesn't get you motivated, then nothing will. I remember back in 2006 against Cleveland he was a beast and was Charlie Fryes worst nightmare. He was motivated then, what happened?

    • I didn't move the goal posts. But anyone who follows football who wants to engage in a rational discussion can't argue that 10 7th round picks are equal to 10 1st rounders in value. The argument has always been we haven't spent as much on defense has we have on offense. Draft picks have value just like salary. We have not spent the same amount of draft pick salary cap on defense that we have on offense since drafting Bryce. It's not even close. Just the 2 1sts we used on Bryce, 2 overall 1sts have a value of 6000. That doesn’t even factor in DJ Moore or the 2 2nds. Bryce cost more than everything we've spent on defense in 6 damn years.
    • We need to hope this scenario plays our next week he fails with pressure…what that means with Evero, is beyond me
    • Woukd be a great addition You know the issues from my prespective, 2 things the Panthers must do 1. Edge or pass rushers or 2 oline or 3 oline or as Andy Reid says, when in doubt, draft a lineman it is time   That oline is troubling plus a small person at QB  they   1. Can do a lot better than mayes at center, 2. and lewis has had injuries all season. 3. Moton should not have  been resigned long term, 4. corbett is a shadow and will probably be released  5 and Christianson coming off Achilles   6 and the kicker, would be Ickey’s contract if they decide to keep him INMO rookie and contracts will be needed to offset all that
