Where the Panthers pick as of

I know it's early, but man, we are in no mans land at 7.

Go Jets

Not really.  Read about the 49ers/Bears game if you don't think they're taking QBs.  The Browns about have to take one as well.  7 isn't 5 but one of the studs at a position of need will be there.  Obviously would love to have the pick of the litter at 5 and that would about require losing out.  We have the cushion to win one and still pick 7.

Agree to disagree on Barnett.  If you believe Walter Football and multiple other mocks this week he won't even be available at 7.  IMO no man's land is 10-20, salt in the wound to this nightmare season.  Hoping for 5 but would still be very happy with a win over the Falcons and 7.

Barnett is not worth 7 and neither is Cam Robinson.  Don't want to take another CB.

Possibly the S from Michigan would work

Ability needs to match the pick

Peppers is not a great Safety. Jamal Adams from LSU however is a baller. I really like Barnett. Barnett, Adams, and Cook are on my wish list if our position holds.

about every single mock draft has us picking another CB too. That is the last thing any panther fan wants lol after a draft with 3 fuging CBs in it. I hope we don't waste any picks on CBs, Bradberry is good and Worley could be solid given time and any sembelance of a pass rush . The only defensive picks I want to see out of this draft are at Saftey and Defensive End. Get a great pass rushing DE and a promising Saftey and the defense will be totally different. Spend all the other picks  on offense to help your franchise QB out for a fuging change.

This OT class sucks. Do I like Cam Rob? Yes, but not enough to take him top 10. If we could somehow get lucky and trade down into the 11-15, then yes take him there.

Some have said that Barnett is the best pass rusher in this draft. It's hard to say. As of right now with the 7th pick or even top 10, I'm not sure I would feel confident enough to take him. DE is a huge need for us however. I don't see Barnett being as good of a prospect as Vic Beasley. And, he went 8th overall, 2nd pass rusher in a pretty damn good draft.

If we stay in the top 10, (I'm taking Fournette out of this bc I believe he'll go top5) I think it'll be between a safety like Jamal Adams or the best available corner. If all the projected guys do enter this draft, it'll be a cornerback heavy draft. A bunch of talents there. There are about 5 Cbs right now that I would take easily in the top 10 with full confidence. I know we have Bradberry and Worley, but that nickel position is important too. I like Johnson but he could be upgraded. Denver and NYG secondaries ain't too bad.

I don't mind a corner. Id like to upgrade the nickel. You gotta have about 4 corners in today's NFL. Those guys projected to come out are pretty solid corners.

The Jets are clearly our biggest threat as far as landing Leonard Fournette, who is my favorite prospect considering the lack of top quality OT's available this year. If he's gone, I like Jamal Adams, the safety from LSU.

Peppers from Michigan is a little too much of a tweener for me, TBH, but we took Shaq in the 1st round, so you never know.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
