Unnecessary Roughness 101

CRA

Recommended Posts

I realize that many of you don't understand the rules of NFL football these days so I figure I would try to help educate you guys and gals this am.  Last night, the Eagles QB gave himself up on a play and received a flag for unnecessary roughness.  As you can see the defender pulled up and merely turned himself into a catching mitt of sorts...

Hope that clears it up.  Wentz is old enough to get that call.

Didn't see the game. But you're telling me, on  a national televised game where all the NFL, media, and fandom were watching...a white qb got that call?

he actually got 2 calls but I don't want to blow people's minds. He got tackled right after making a throw.  You know, like 50% of Cam's standard plays.

I really believe this is one of the factors that is causing people to lose interest in the NFL.  What is a catch?  What is a penalty?  When is it a fumble vs an incompletion?   The rules are so inconsistent from one play to the next.

I'm one of those who has become a lot less interested in the game.  The hits to Cam's head in week 1 and the lack of calls really upset me, and so many games seem to be affected by questionable penalties... it's really hard to not think there are biases towards / against some teams & players.  In my more rational moments I put it down to mere incompetence... but whether it's bias or incompetence, I want full-time professional refs and clearer standards.  Surely improvements can be made.

I will agree on that, that was not a penalty. Just like on Monday night, the player was not going for Cam head, but hit him in the head. But couldn't get that flag out quick enough for a taunting call. Something is up, and the fools in the NFL are letting it happen. It time for the media to do their job and not drop this, call it what it is, racism.

i saw this last night all over social media and I believe every football analyst were losing their mind on twitter last night all in favor of Cam.  Big tall athletic QB who can run both slide one hit in the head and one with a hand to the shoulder to try and prevent impact and the White QB gets the call... nah its not a race thing.

Is it the rules or the execution of enforcement of the rules?

The fact we have 97 yr old part time refs is an utter joke.

We need full time younger refs that eat and breath the job.
