Person, Observer Analysis: long term answer needed at LT

top dawg

Mike Williams is fine and all, but for my money I'm taking Corey Davis all day long. He's better put together, likely stronger, and just looks more dynamic to me. And, I believe that he has better hands. He's also a great route runner

What round is he projected to go ?
I'm hoping we grab a wr too this draft early

Why are so many people in love with Cam Robinson?

He will not help our position at all against speed rushers. He just won't. He cannot handle any pass rushers with speed looking at his tape.

He is a glorified version of Remmers; clearly not a day one starter.

I agree we need some tackle depth, but we don't need to take one day one. I can't believe you guys don't understand that there's so many good project guys we can snag later on.

Unless you want turnstile 2.0, just don't get a tackle early.

Maybe some of us are tired of projects like Nate Chandler and Byron Bell.

Robinson is a beast in the run game and could start at right tackle and provide depth at left tackle. We did the same thing with Jordan Gross who played right tackle his rookie year before moving to the left side. Now you could legitimately argue that a number 9 pick might be high for a right tackle but if our scouts think he can be our left tackle I would definitely support it. I would also be bringing in a vet as well. Any port in a storm.

Honest question: Can anyone who is watching Cam Robinson in the Championship game honestly still say that he is worthy of a first round pick? Or that he can ever be a left tackle?

I know you shouldn't evaluate a guy based on one game alone, but everything you've seen this game simply confirms what the scouts have been saying for a while. He can be a solid right tackle. He will never be a left tackle. And - no - you don't take right tackles with top 10 picks in the draft. You can take tackles who learn on the right side if they have potential to play left... you don't take guys who will never be left tackles.

Interesting that you'd say that after the Jason Peters discussion yesterday.  Lane Johnson should take over at LT after being taken #4 overall and getting a new deal.  Peters can obviously be had for a day 3 pick.

For THE GUY it'll take either a rock bottom year with good draft class or this FO trading away more than I would ever have imagined them giving up.

The discarded vet while you try to find a prospect plan is really the best strategy and Matt Kalil fits the mold. The Oher situation sucks but it was working until a freak accident.

Lane Johnson was seen as a prototypical LT in college. The guy ran a 4.75 40 at the combines. Insane athleticism for a tackle. So it make perfect sense for the Eagles to finally cash in on that investment by moving him to LT and trading away Peters.

I say get a sound vet, draft a good hands, route, speed receiver at number 8, 2nd get a decent tackle or 3rd. Get a RB, DE....Panthers need a speed receiver period no ifs about it they also need a tackle but there are no proven to be left tackles in the draft a vet can help with that and groom a mid round tackle for  replacement.  Same thing with RB except we would not need a vet just draft a shifty RB. Not a molded in stews mold but different style..RBs can be found in late rounds. If your going to keep Payne there is no need in getting the same mold. Cam needs a quick outlet..need to draft a high end receiver...we can get by with the line with solid vet and depth.
