Truly a great insider video on our new DC. It will be interesting to see him this coming season. You can see the passion and dedication he has with his players. Almost feels like he's a father figure to these young players. Great choice.

The way he was on Bradberry tho. That right there, is the reason he developed into one of the top rookies this seasons. I can't wait for him to get in there with ALL the units in the defense and light a fire in them.

Agreed.

Wilks is a fundementals guy who teaches technique and basic hand and body positioning. He won't be flashy and don't expect a bunch of gimmicks and scheming to win on defense. From what I have seen he will stress being sound in your technique, knowing where you are at all times, and execution which in the end is always much more important than playcalling particularly on defense where you are reacting to the offense. It will be interesting whether there will be less blitzing or more under Wilkes. Don't really know but my first take might be less.

    • Backup QB has been an issue of mine for a long time but not just for Bryce and Dalton. We have never really been able to develop QBs or build an offense around strengths. Dalton isn't going to move the needle one way or another. The problem is in our FO and possibly coaching staff (current staff undetermined as of yet). I'm of the belief that you always try to get better. Dalton wasn't good other than one game against an abysmal defense. Churn the roster, including backup QB. If BY isn't the guy we've got to start over anyway. Who knows. We might actually find someone good. Other teams have done it before.
    • Lol. Worst case? I think you mean most likely result. I don't think people are going to be wasting much breath on Dalton or QB2 if Bryce flounders this year. It's going to be people calling for coaches, GM's and owners heads for the mess we got ourselves in with Bryce in the first place. Rightfully so.
    • I mean that's his sole reason for being here. He doesn't win football games. He's here to keep Bryce comfortable.
