They had as many if not more or less when they picked Johnny Manziel..  They are the Browns for a reason. They've had so many high picks that they should have been a good team by now.

Not just that but a team full of college kids with not much experience.....Yeah not exactly what I'd do.

I would seriously consider trading this comp pick to the 49ers for LT Joe Staley.

Absofreakinlutely.  Three years of quality for a guy that a previous regime already dangled for the world.  My hunch is they may demand more, but a win/win can be found.  Our comp 3rd+6th?  Our 2nd with them giving back our 2018 4th?  His value based on age/salary should be no more/no less than a late 2nd/early 3rd.  Find a way!!!

To get to 5 would take 8, the early 3rd and a 4th.  That'd be pretty close.  Man, Cleveland's team is going to be completely different next year.  They have a ridiculous amount of picks.

If picks 1-7 truly break our hearts and they have a guy they want in front of the Bengals, a trade back is more than possible.  To move out of the top 10 and behind the Saints, it'd better be good however.

4 picks in the top 100.

One of the deepest classes at positions we need this year.

Good time to be a Panther.

And this is why i'm a bit surprised that so many want to move up and give up some of those picks.  I really think there are going to be some quality guys at positions we need in the third round this year.

I hear you but unfortunately our biggest need, OT happens to be a very poor position in this draft class.

This is why trading draft picks might just be the only way Gman can properly address our LT spot.

By the way, one factoid that's probably way under the radar that increases this possibility is the fact that Shanahan and Lynch were given SIX (!!!) year contracts.  i.e. no pressure to win early.  Accumulating long term assets should be their goal.

    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
