I also don't understand drafting another one. We have two one year veterans. Why add more inexeperience to that and risk it not panning out? at least even if the veteran blows, he can mentor.

Because you are about to release Leonard Johnson and possibly Teddy Williams.  Buy drafting someone like Myrick and signing captain that gives you

Bradberr Worley CB1 CB2

Captain Myrick nickel corners

with still Zach Sanchez to help with special teams or PS.

Can never have to much talent at corner.  Plus Myrick can learn from Captain similar measurements.

I'm drafting a guy. Maybe two if the value is there later in the draft. I'm not paying a fading veteran when I can draft equal or better talent to groom for the future.

We still need to address LT, TE, RB, SS, FB, DE, and we all know that Dave will probably grab a LB or DT somewhere in there. What's your plan for them if we double dip at CB?

With the 90th pick in the 3rd round Carolina panthers select Jourdan Lewis Cornerback Michigan...

If the CB class is really as deep as a lot of people claim there is no reason we can't find a nickel type corner later in the middle of the draft.  Those types tend to go later anyway.

I know that would be a lot of draft picks in the past 2 years but I would prefer to draft a corner in the 5th that has a good chance of contributing then some other position that might not, which is usually the case later in the draft.

Also you can't ignore a position in the draft just because you spent picks in the past on that position.  Not unless you are sure about those past picks.  Same could be said about our WR position.  In some ways CB is the one position you need the most of, or the most quality among the whole group.  If your 3rd or 4th CBs are weak teams can attack you at those positions.  If your 3rd or 4th string DE is weak he just doesn't play as much.

You have the money to add a piece to your secondary to help solidify with the young 2nd year Cb's on your team.. Maybe add some vet mentorship to that room..

Who do you go with .. Understanding certain situations with each player..

A. Stephon Gilmore - Will cost money that can be used for other players...  Young entering his prime and has strong area ties..

B. Tramon Williams - Cheaper not as establish as Gilmore.. Would come in and compete with Worleys more or less..

C. Sam Sheilds - older vet with injury history but would provide more of a vet presence than the other 2. Probably cheaper as well..

D. Captain - Fan favorite true leader .. But only a nickle cb..

Who do you choose??

Josh Norman....

    • Watching games this year again and Bryce missed a wide open XL many times and some of them were in the endzone. I get the kid has mental lapses and hasn't broke out yet, but this is year three on a rookie deal! Cutting bait now is too early. If he hasn't gained anymore trust from his QB, posted any highlights, little production, or outright gets beat out then we can talk movement.
    • Samesies   I truly may just cash completely out of Panther football if we give him a long term deal that isnt necessary.  I have watched NFL for 50 years now and I can without a shadow of a doubt say you cannot win consistently with BY.  Way too many limitations to deal with.   I may come back around in 3 years when the inevitable happens and all parties are either cut and/or fired.  Giving him a deal before this season so you hopefully can get him cheaper in case he "blows up" or if you truly believe that he will has to be the most moronic decision a gm can make when the evidence is laid before you with different players
    • This is the one! I was at that game and all KB had to do was lay down on the corner after the pick or make an obvious tag while he was down. He had already ran a lazy route. Then if Cam would've just walked to the sideline like most elite QBs instead of trying to make the tackle.  A lot of people bring up the TJ Watt hit, but he just reaggravated a bunch of scar tissue from that play. And every Cam hater said that the running did him in and it was a dive tackle attempt on an interception that initially began the shoulder deterioration. He still went to New England later and would've got them in the playoffs had their A team not sat out the covid year. We quit on him too early. But hey how good was Teddy? Am I right?
