And a crap load of time of speculation and rewriting what actually happened...

We all get wrapped up in it and forget who the real players were, game in and game out, during the college football season. And not just this season, but for the declared who have played 3.

That is to say...

DG makes a living talking about his vetting process coming from gameplay.

All this hype and lull stears us in the wrong direction and we are shocked come draft day...

Remember who it was at the end of the regular season.

This is why I do not do, or subscribe to, any mocks after the start of the combine.

1.8 will be either Fournette or Barnett or Adams.

Fournette wrote his resume in his sophomore season... look back and say I am wrong.

Barnett broke records that should have stood for much longer, with heart and drive, and in a very difficult conference where others (including Garrett) came up short or otherwise not-up-to-billing.

Adams... an impact seeking madman. Kuechly like instincts for the ball. Solid #3, in this list, but solid.

One of these will be in black and blue come this May.

I don't know the OP from Adam but he's right.  The last time Barnett actually took the field he was fantastic after 3 fantastic years.  We'll see.

I don't think we take a DL in the 1st. Allen and Thomas will be following on the heels of Garrett and Barnett won't go in the top 10. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Demarcus Ware 258 thats my comparison for Barnette
Barnette 259 fantastic off the edge but down in the dirt holding up in the run game for 4-3 not so sure. Kid has potential to be a machine in a 3-4 though

The OP was mostly in reaction to all of the combine hype.. posts saying Ross at 1.8 or Howard at 1.8 or any number of guys that were not there after the conclusion of the regular season.

DG, and solid GMs, draft based on the body of work from the season. Not a 1 game performance or the underpants Olympics.

Not a Barnett thread intention at all. A perspective intention.

People get too wrapped up in prototypical measurements. I can think of a lot of players who didn't measure up, that were all pros. Even more that had all the measurable that didn't amount to anything...

It is 100% what they deliver on game day... not what they look like getting off the bus.

My brain is about to explode with the stupidity in this thread.  Barnett has been great against the run and is coming from a 4 man front, so his weight isn't a huge concern for me. I'd actually rather have Taco Charlton if we go DE because he has elite bend in his rush. Solomon Thomas has none and in all his sacks last year he never got the sack by going outside of an OT yet everyone is viewing him as this dominant DE, when in fact he played more DT than Jonathan Allen did

      It has been going on for years. Many years.  Long time coming to reach the depths of bad form these players put on display weekly in the NFL.  It started, as I recall, with the shoulder hit, trying to be a missile and just knock the guy down. Once the Peanut Punch became popular it just got worse. Between all the failed punches and the shoulder hits it is just bad.     The league isn’t helping with you can’t hit high, you can’t hit low rules they like to impose. And they don’t come to the league anymore with their fundamentals established, I don’t think.   NFL really really needs a minor league for player development.
