Guarateed money matters more than the headline numbers...but if Kalil is getting 10/, there is no way we can sign him.  That's crazy.

Oh, he was getting 10 million per year originally with the old Viking's plan.

I can tell you if there's a 'substantial' increase we won't have him.

Then let him be depth. Competition.

Personally, I'm a play it safe guy. Right now I'm counting Oher out, at the very least not expecting him to come back to full form, which was slightly better than average at best.

With that in mind, I'll correct myself and say I don't see a good reason as to why more than one candidate should not be brought in. Especially at realistic, prove yourself offers given Kalil needs to, and has zero leverage.

Because guys like Kalil will cost 11 or 12 mil a season. You pay that they have to start

Can't deny I'm having concerns that we're going to overpay out of desperation and it'll turn out like Justin Hartwig all over again.

I read some Vikes boards and most said they would resign him - relucantly.  That was until someone said they offered 3 yrs 30 mill.  Then it was hell no!  Insanity to do that.. I mean basically he hasnt done anything good for while.

$9-$10 mill a year is not an overpay, that's going rate for free agent Tackles that don't just fall over these days. Either the DE position has improved drastically or there is a severe OT deficiency in the league

From reports, it's looking like $9-10m is a bargain for Kalil. We're talking about 12-13m now.

    • Got to give some credit to the coaching staff on these. You can grab top talents but without good coaching, they just fizzle out. We've seen that a lot around here.
    • Oh, no TV for tonight's game unless you have the NHL Network, I believe. I could be wrong, hopefully?
    • Early returns are great and exciting but also worth noting that Gettleman had a few drafts that looked incredible early on and wound up mostly sucking (2014 mainly). Also PFF; grain of salt, etc.    I'm completely sold on Tet being a stud, knocked a high pick out of the park like we needed to and always should. Nearly sold on Scourton. Not sold on Princely but he had flashes. Not sold on Etienne as more than a 3rd stringer and special teamer, but that's not terrible for his draft position. Big fan of Ransom and think he'll be a starter.  Cam Jackson : IDK, I see limited upside but we didn't see much of him Evans was a nice find for draft position and he had a great rookie year for a late round rookie TE with plenty of veteran competition. Not sure about his upside though, seems like best case is a long term #2/3 TE, which isn't bad. Jimmy Horn, personally I didn't see a damn thing from him that impressed me all year. And he got a lot of opportunities. Pulling for the kid, but not convinced he's an NFLer.   UDFA: Fitzgerald was an amazing find
