What Nolan Nawrocki says about Leonard Fournette

I got this from his superb 2017 Draft preview, truly the best draft guide out there.

Tough, decisive, downhill runner with hip strength, body power and physicality to consistently churn through contact and create chunk yardage, yet also posses the long speed to create explosive big plays. A complete every down back in a rare category of talent physically gifted to have made the jump from high school to the pro’s had he been allowed.

Fournette is a generational talent in the same category as all time greats such as Bo Jackson and Herschel Walker exiting college. A bell cow capable of carrying an offense and wearing down defenses. Was at his best when healthy in 2015 and would be most optimal playing in the 220 lbs.

We should just enshrine Fournette into the HoF before he even takes a snap at this point.

Whatever happened to realistic comparisons and aspirations these days.

You compared Derek Barnett to Ryan Delaire...

I feel that is a major reason Fournette is getting some hate. People don't like it when we "crown them" before they even enter the league.

They went out the window when McCaffrey became a top 10 "lock".

Yup but he's also a premiere talent evaluator.

Clearly.

Which team does he work for again? Oh, none of them? Yep... premiere talent evaluator. LOL!

These draftniks who have never actually evaluated talent for an NFL team are for entertainment purposes only.

Honestly have no recollection of that. Don't remember why I would've made that comparison if so. Link me to where I did, and I'll figure out what I was drinking that day.

Think you are the guy who compared Cam Robinson to Mike Remmers too. Probably drank what you are drinking today

Eh I was mostly sober til the end on that one when I watched the championship game. Robinson didn't wow me and looked like he got beat a lot by speed, so that felt like a fair comparison to another guy who sucks against speed.

    • Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.
    • 13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.) https://x.com/lindsay_rhodes/status/2027212533417869499?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
    • Because this DL is completely reliant on Brown being available and being a stud. Without him we were the worst D in history. The Wharton signing last year reeked of desperation. He just isn't a great fit for us schematically and I think we panicked a little bit when we missed out on Milton Williams who would have been a great fit.
