Bucky Brooks:Christian McCaffrey, Curtis Samuel rejuvenate Panthers' offense

Recommended Posts

When Ron Rivera suggested at the end of last season that the Carolina Panthers' offense must evolve in 2017 to help their former league MVP quarterback get back on track, I thought the grizzled coach was simply suggesting the team would add a few wrinkles to the playbook to allow Cam Newton to rediscover his comfort zone as the ultimate playmaker at the position.

While I'm sure that is certainly a big part of the Panthers' offensive transformation, the team's decision to draft a pair of hybrids weapons will not only help their franchise quarterback get back on track, but it could make their offense more dynamic, explosive and nearly impossible to defend -- IF offensive coordinator Mike Shula knows how to control the joystick from the sidelines.

Gotta admit, all this hype from the national nfl media is making me nervous. They are always wrong.

National media didn't include us in the top 10 offenses for next year.

Simply because what the Panthers offense needed first was offensive line help.

Witness Matt Kalil and Taylor Moton.

They're right, but don't fundamentally understand the reason.

    • it's pretty simple IMO.  The Tepper Panthers are the most unsuccessful professional sports in all of sports.  The problem isn't the posters here have changed.  The product dictates the atmosphere more than anything.  In reality, the daily convos about THE worst team in all of pro sports on a fanatics site....is going to feature harsh and critical convo.  Only one entity can actually change that.  It's the Carolina Panthers football team.
    • Yes message boards will always include that sort of stuff… However, this place has been a cess pool since the team took Bryce Young over CJ Stroud. It becomes a problem when it is accepted and promoted, which it has been here (even by at least one mod). Many posters sole purpose on this board is to try to dunk on others for having different opinions. We just had one write a novella on how talking about Bryce Young’s game winning drives “needs to stop”…after a win. They don’t want real conversation. It “needs to stop”. There are many posters here who literally only show up after losses to dead thread and try to dunk on others about the QB (MRenshaw is an easy example). I really don’t see much of that happening the other way around. There’s too many people that would rather the team be bad so they can feel justified for constant doom and gloom and negative opinions. It’s been pointed out by many over the past couple years. This just isn’t a place to have football discussions anymore because of the constant hyperbole. If you don’t subscribe to “Bryce Young is the worst QB ever who can’t throw the ball further than 5 yards and is the reason why we lose any game we lose and doesn’t help in any game we win”, then you are labeled a Bryce Young Stan.
    • if you believe he is watching every NFL game.....every week.....go right ahead.  I get it, he said something you like.  But that's like believing the talking heads on the ESPN shows are watching all the games.  You think Stephen A is watching the Panthers every Sunday too?  If Stephen A needs to go on First Take he certainly can pretend like he has watched every snap any player on the roster has taken lol.   No one is that isn't a Panther fan has been watching the 9-25 career go down every Sunday.  Or even a lot of Sunday's.  You know who knows more about Bryce Young than Long? The collective huddle.  What they are reviewing is stat sheets, highlights and in summaries.  It's an old formula lol.
