That was a finale! I really enjoyed it.

-do we need to spoiler alert?- then this may be a semi spoiler alert.---

So does the break-in time to tame and ride a zomba-ragon that spits blue slushies, take less time than a horse?

This season has drove me mad with several illogical-passings of time in the last few episodes.

I just thought the scene at the wall was a bit forced and sudden.  However, maybe it was 3 months later where the writers simply bypassed having a Montage of the Night King embarrassingly being thrown by the dragon several times only only to finally gain the trust of the dragon to saddle his wild ass..of course to the music of Chicago in the background.

We were robbed of a great cinematic TV moment.

I was under the impression that the night king had some sort of mind control over the dead.

Great final episode, think they handled reunions a lot better in this episode then the last - hound and brienne, bronn and Tyrion, Tyrion and Cersei etc.

Lots of succession theories going round now that all the queens are getting pregnant again. I think Tyrion wants to avoid a Targarean ruling dynasty hence his little side eye when Aegon gets with Aunty D.

Honestly it will be dissapointing if they all trust that Cersei is actually sending her army to help. After all they know about her they must have some plan to counter her betrayal. Just how many times do you want to get slapped in the face before u set the bitch on fire?

What did Sandor mean when he told Gregor "you know who kills you" or something like that?

Yeah he said "You know who's coming after you, you always knew".   I assume he means revenge, via Hound from throwing him into the fire and who knows what else.

Anyway, about dragon riding, Night King wargs/mind controls.   I'm not sure it's a straight warg since dude is controlling a lot more at one time.    The other walkers have mind control over zombies as well since when that one went down in earlier episodes a bunch of them fell.

I loved the finale but I can't help but feeling like the show is getting too much into "fan service" territory.    I feel like the writers of the show have most of the control now because this stuff doesn't feel like GRRM.    The Arya/LF scene was awesome but I felt GRRM would have wrote that a bit different.   That may be OK though, that means the books may have some really cool stuff to come we won't expect.    I loved the Ice Dragon I've been waiting/calling for it for like 4 years lol (totally looks and reminds me of WoW dragons).

OK I thought the episode was great. We did get a lot of what we were expecting and confirmation of other things to come. I was glad that we pretty much got confirmation of the Cleganne Bowl. I'm glad characters are finally saying out loud that Jon is Aegon Targeryan and is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. Not sure who will believe Sam and Bran (their meeting seemed a little forced but was entertaining) but we will see. As mentioned before, I thought all of the reunions in this were handled well. The Hound and Brienne, Hound and Mountain, Brienne and Jaimie, Bronn and Tyrion, Bronn and Podrick, Podrick and Tyrion, and especially Tyrion and Cersei.

The stupid plan to capture a zombie in order to get Cersei to a truce accomplished nothing really (except maybe give Qyburn an erection). Sure they all believe now but she still isn't going to do anything about it. The one thing it did accomplish is get Jaimie to finally break with Cersei. On that, when Cersei nodded to the Mountain signaling that he should in fact kill Jaimie when he asked "Are you going to order him to kill me?", the Mountain draws his sword and...does nothing. Jaimie walks past him and leaves. Why didn't the Mountain kill him? Also, after everything he has accepted from her, double crossing the Targeryan Twins (Aunt and Nephew) and not helping fight the dead is what breaks him? Or was it that she conspired with Euron Greyjoy behind his back (and insinuating that she will marry Euron when they win)? Also, who exactly is going to command the Lannister armies now and where exactly is Jaimie going? What is he going to do? Head North and be like, sorry guys my sister sucks but I'm all in with you? Seems unlikely. I have no idea.

As for Littlefinger, I thought overall it was handled well. I'm glad the counter scheming sisters were in fact counter scheming. Although I'm not sure, but it seemed like Sansa kind of figured it all out on her own and wasn't counter scheming with Arya. The "I like to play a little game" words being turned back on him were good. The only issue I had was how Littlefinger reacted to being cornered. It just seemed off. UnLittlefinger. But I was still happy to see him finally have his game come to an end.

The Wall coming down was awesome. I'm not exactly sure what blue fire is but I was prepared to pretty much accept whatever came out of the Ice Dragon's mouth. But that undead army might want to take a few steps back...that's a lot of ice coming down and they seemed a little close. I don't think Tormund and Beric are dead. I think we would've seen them die on screen if they were. They've earned that. But 2 questions about that scene. Firstly, the Wildlings defending the wall. What was their plan to defend the wall? It seemed like they were just manning it and had no idea what to do to actually defend it (not specifically against the dragon but just in general). I don't know, they just seemed ill prepared. But not a huge deal. Secondly, how was the Night King going to get through the wall without the dragon? I saw the theory that he was waiting for the dragon but that seems kind of thin. The NK does have at least 1 giant. Were they going to attack the gate like the Wildlings did? Not sure what plan B was for the NK. Regardless, they are on the move now and everything is being wrapped up. We all assume Dany is now pregnant right?

I thought the episode was absolutely horrible.  Everything felt couched, the meetings forced, the dialogue was awful, and it was only saved by the ability of the performers and the familiarity with their roles by this point. It was just a continuous cringe for me. I'm tired of watching Gregor pull his sword halfway out and then pushing it back in to bring some sort of fake suspense.  I'm trying to think of one redeeming factor from the episode, but I can't.  The one scene that deserved any merit didn't get the time or weight it really deserved, which was Littlefinger's death.  It felt like a skit that was just thrown in.  What a shitty way for Littlefinger to die after all the joy and tears he's brought us. I think the only scene I did like was Bran and Sam, and the lolsy cringworthy way it was interplayed over scenes of Jon and Dany grinding a cousin-baby out. But whatever.  I'm glad this season is over, and I'll be even more happy when the next one is finished.

Fair point.

I liked it. It was the most 'Game of Thrones-ish' episode this season, probably because there was a heavy dose of Kings Landing politics. There has been a clear downgrade in writing and story ever since the show runners ran out Martin's material, but it is what it is at this point, which is still pretty damn good.

I have to say, even after knowing how pretty much every episode was going to go thanks to the spoilers, this season had its share of good and bad just like any other season.

I think the whole dragon pit scene ran a little too long.

Good on Theon for finding his proverbial sack in the absence of his real one, but I don't really care about him or Yara, or Euron at this point.

Littlefinger got a better death than he deserved, but I doubt book Littlefinger goes out so easily.

The Night King dragon scene was cool and all... it is just hard to top anything they've done so far.

I'm glad Jaime finally left.

I think Dany is going to have to kill Jon now. That will be the irony. Jon is the rightful heir and all that jazz, but there is where the bittersweet stuff comes from regarding what GRRM has said. Jon should be king. He's the heir. He's done every honorable thing he can do thus far. But right when you think he's going to take his rightful place/get what he should, BOOM something is going to happen and Dany will have to kill him in order to win the battle or something like that. They've been setting it up the whole time, and last night just made it more clear.

I'm bummed that there is only one season left, but happy in a way too. I'm ready for the next book and to see what they do with any potential spinoffs.

But GoT has had a good run, and I hope the other literary works this ultimately benefits and opens the door for live up to the standards GoT has set.

Jon's already sworn an oath to Dany, and he's not going to go back on it.  If anything, they'll rule together if they survive.

I think I see something, at least on the show, like Jon dying in battle with TNK and being reanimated by him, and Dany having to kill him the second time.

After last night, I just don't see Jon making it out alive. He's already died and been brought back and then cheated death numerous times. What a tragedy that he'll sire an heir, and then die for good.

I believe the Night King has been waiting for the Dragon to come, before even marching south, which at least makes sense on the fact Jon and others have traveled all around in the time it took the Undead army to march 5 football fields.    Anyway, NK is like Bran so he was waiting for it (or possibly IS Bran).       It's also why he didn't kill Jon and his party when they really could have at any point.
