Ryan brings valuable experience to our personnel group,” Browns G.M. Sashi Brown said in a statement. “He was raised as a road-scout and has been evaluating talent in this league for almost 20 years. We place a premium on that experience and on his passion for football. Ryan has much to offer to any personnel department and we are pleased that he chose to join our staff.”

Left unsaid: "He also once gave us a first round pick for Trent Richardson."

This is actually a decent move. Grigson has been consistently good at identifying talent at WR and TE. If used right, he can be an asset.

I like what the Browns are doing. They need to stay the course.

as long as the give HJ a fair opportunity, i think they can turn things around but they seem to be trigger happy on their coaches. of course, they can just be destined as an organization to be junk kinda like we are destined to never have back to back winning seasons.

Yeah, I think him not getting fired was a good sign.

Things are looking up for them IMO.

it make take another couple years when BR retires and the Bengals will Bengal they could take over that division. but in Steelers fashion, they will probably somehow land another good QB so they dont take that dip.

Depends on two things. 1. The criteria and 2. Current or all time (franchise history).

For 'running an organization' I'd consider two man things. First of of W/L ratio. It doesn't get any clear cut than that to me. If you're not a well run team you won't win games, period. A winning team brings fans, money, security, fame, respect....so many things. It should be the basis of success.

Second, when things aren't going well (again based mainly on W/L), what is the reason, how long is it allowed to persist, what is done about it, and how quickly are things turned around?

Currently I'd say:

1. Browns

2. Jags

3. Bears

4. 49ers

5. Bills

Runner ups: Raiders, Dolphins, Jets

All time:

1. Browns

2. Lions

3. Texans

4. Bills (mainly for holding the record for longest without a post season game)

5. Jags (almost identical franchise history to the Panthers except the 2015 SB run).

 

Runner ups: Panthers would be around 6/7 alltime with above criteria, W/L record alone in the NFL since 1995 would put them in the bottom 10

      It's actually interesting you mention Richardson because I've seen it suggested here Bryce will have 500 or more rushing yards and 5-10 rushing touchdowns this year. And if big Anthony Richardson can get hurt carrying the rock what's that tell you about the practicality of thinking Bryce won't?

      I mean, I get why the media and some NFL and Carolina fans are saying that we don't have a real chance, but as many Huddlers should know, we won't know what we really have in this team until probably late September or early October at the earliest. And I'm not trying to be a homer, I'm just looking at things historically. Obviously I'm also looking at Bryce's "palatable" improvement the last half of last season (including being the catalyst for hanging with and nearly beating the Super Bowl participants), and the new additions that we've acquired overall. I'm also looking at the beginnings of a culture change--even if perceptibly subtle--to some degree indeed may take a foothold if things start falling the right way. But, overall, I'm still cognizant of the realization that things could just go south and that perhaps that Bryce could revert and flop, or that D & D (Dan and Dave) are not the answer, but I still am not ready to say "we're far away." Hell we could be close, albeit with growing pains, but even if we're on the course to bring legit in 2026, then guys like Ramsey would be welcome additions this season. That's just my take on it. I don't think we'll know that we're far away until some point in the season. If we can compete in the South...who knows?

      You guys remember when the narrative on here was that Bryce would be chronically injured in the NFL due to his size and Anthony Richardson would be super durable due to his? You remember when the narrative was that Bryce was physically incapable of throwing a ball further than 20 yards in the NFL? You remember “I’ll stop complaining when he throws for more than 200 yards and looks like an NFL quarterback”? You remember when 60 sacks was his fault and not the offensive line, slow WRs, and terrible scheme? Pepperidge Farm remembers. It will always be something for some people. Whatever insanity they come up with will be quickly dropped to move on to the next thing. Bryce could have an MVP Super Bowl winning season and they would complain that we can’t run the tush push with him. It will always be something.
