Austin Davis signs with Seattle

I think it's comical how so many try to keep pushing this PC angle on why Kaepernick isn't on an NFL roster. The bottom line is that if there was an NFL team out there that needed a starting QB that thought he was a starting QB, he'd be signed. Guys have gotten second and third chances in the NFL for doing FAR worse than refusing to stand for the national anthem. Teams don't want distractions as backup QBs whether that distraction is a fault of the player, a fabrication by the media, or a combination of the two. Doesn't matter. No one wants a player who will hopefully never see the field to be a distraction

Carroll was being diplomatic and you can appreciate that.  But signing Davis pretty much negates all his comments about CK.

To have ever thought they could say he was better than Cam makes this whole situation laughable.

I completely agree. He exercised his right as an American. I think he would be great back up. I believe it may be the money he is willing to take as a backup. Remember he was doing his thing in the super bowl before the lights went out.

Teams take into consideration locker room distractions, and the public's attitude towards Kaepernick would be one. If he was definitely starter material, it wouldn't matter. Someone would sign him.

But if it was close, if he was not clear cut starting material,  the distraction would be enough to keep him from being signed. I suspect that is what is happening here.

I know, I know....it is his right.   Got it.

Well it appears that most ALL clubs feel like I do.

On top of that he stinks as a QB.

They don't feel like you do (thinking he's "un-American") they just think the distraction outweighs the talent. Business decision not a personal one.

    • Sellers is absolutely one to keep an eye on. Could be the next Cam or could be the next Anthony Richardson. Curious to see how he has progressed come this fall.
    • I think Texas could go 0-12 and he would still go #1 based on his name and traits like you say.  But nusselman and sellers may be actually better qbs.    Man if bryce stinks it up this season its looking like a damn good year to swap out qbs.  Sellers highlights are just fuging jaw dropping
    • I mean, the kid comes from a wealthy family. It's not like he needs the money. He has a ton of potential now we get to see what he can do as a starter. Everyone penciling him in as the #1 overall pick is putting the cart way before the horse. It's 5% because of his talent and what he's showing on the field and 95% because his last name is Manning. And if he is what he's hyped to be the Texas coaching staff needs to be answering some tough questions about why the kid wasn't on the field sooner. Ewers was a good college QB but he's definitely not a "keep a future #1 overall pick waiting" type of college QB. Only getting one season out of a top NFL talent because you chose to keep him buried behind a borderline NFL talent is just coaching negligence. Not starting him as a true freshman? Yeah, I get that. But on year two if the kids is what he's hyped to be you gotta wish Ewers well elsewhere and turn the page.
