No, that "was" Belchen. He was converted to safety.

That is what I thought.

I am surprised at this as it seemed they wanted to get a good look at him at Safety.  I am surprised as he was the first to go when signing a new player.

It's Carolina. These fans seem to love no name scrubs.

Great teams are made from these types of players.  Your top draft picks should always make the team and eventually have an impact. Though many don't, the so called no name scrubs are what save your ass. Norwell is a prime example. So while you may call them no name scrubs the good ones that have talent just might need some teaching.

Belchen didn't pass the test and I am ok with that.  But every no name scrub that makes the team better, is better for the Panthers.  Many will say our scouting team sucks for losing players we draft.  I look at it as they do a great job by finding talent better than what was drafted in the late rounds.

BTW any one of those NO NAME SCRUBS could dance circles around 99.5% of us.

Very, very hard for a UDFA to turned into something. I don't have he greatest memory. Just off the top of my head, the last UDFA before Norwell was probably Hoover.

Norwell is a superstar and true hidden gem.  UDFAs for the most part aren't going to walk in year one or even year two and be a starter like Norwell did.

Most are going to come in and contribute to special teams and provide depth.

Cash and Byrd are still with us and there are a few other rookie UDFAs on this team now that have an opportunity to make the squad.

The point is a solid roster MUST have these type of players.  If you rely solely on your draft picks you are never going to have a solid team top to bottom.  You could say Free Agents and this years crop is excellent but the UDFAs fill those spots to make a solid roster..
