Greg Olsen wants to restructure his contract

I think NFL contracts should have more incentives and less guaranteed $$$. If you perform well like Olsen you make more $$$, if you suck you don't make as much. You don't see these players restructure and give up money if they have a couple down seasons unless they are at risk of getting cut.

you see players restructure their contracts all the time to be more cap friendly towards the end of their deals

Greg has been one of the best TE's in the league for years. We had him at a hell of a bargain for a good while as well. Pay him whatever he wants, and actually make a f*cking effort to find a TE2 not named Ed Dickson.

Regardless of how misleading this article is... pay dat man what he wants. Outside Gronk, there's no one that dominant.

Dominant? Not in my opinion.

Consistent? Yes, he's the most consistent TE in the league, and that's just as good if not better.

He's a more athletic Jason Witten, which is friggin dangerous as hell because of how consistent he gets open.

Why not put Funch at TE2? He was capable of playing TE due to his size coming out of college and plus with so much depth at wr, we can afford to put him at TE. Not to mention he hasn't been as productive in his role.
K. Benjamin and R. Sheppard at WR 1 and 2. Samuel at 3. Austin Duke at 4 and Charles Johnson at 5. Greg olsen TE1 and Funch at TE2. Ofcourse this would be during passing downs as I don't think he'd be a good run blocker.

3 straight 1,000 yard seasons isn't dominant? I beg to differ. You guys are so stuck with labels representing only one attribute. The way Olsen is able to get separation, run stellar and crisp routes, make insane acrobatic and tough catches in traffic make him a dominant force. For the love of god, Olsen had more receiving yards than 70% of WRs in the league at one point last season (on pace for 1,600).

Give the man the respect he deserves. Consistent is only one term I'd pair Olsen's name with.

Agree to disagree. Olsen is great, but to me he's not dominant. Gronk is dominant. He imposes his will on every single play whether it be rushing or passing. He is also a nightmare in the redzone. Olsen is great at receiving, sub-par in run blocking, and I guess above average in the red zone - I give him the benefit of the doubt just because he doesn't ever have a ton of TDs but Cam and the rushing game take a lot of those goal to go scores away from him.

Like I said before, to me Olsen is a rich man's Jason Witten, always knows where the sticks are, sneaks into a hole in the zone, but he has the added athleticism to actually run by defenders. He's Mr. Reliable on steroids, but not dominant.

Yeah, I wouldn't call Greg "dominant". I'd call him consistently very good. And honestly, that's why I'd take him over a more dynamic player like Gronk all day everyday. Gronk is dominant when he's on the field. But, the problem is that the dude misses a ton of games. Greg hasn't missed a game since his rookie season. He's always out there, he's always consistent, and you know exactly what you're going to get out of him. I'll take that over a dynamic and dominant player like Gronk who has missed 24 regular season games during his career.

100% this. Would you rather have a guaranteed $100 bet or a 60% shot at $150? Give me the guaranteed money every day.

And given the state of our other receivers for much of Greg's time here, consistency has been the aspect that we've needed and benefited from him the most. He's the only pass catcher we've had during Cam's career who you knew what your were gonna get.

Agree with all except Steve Smith was a very consistent WR as well.
