Will Gettleman's next team be your new favorite team?

I seem to recall some of the people who are thrilled with Gettleman being fired being the same people who were saying that they wished Steve Smith would make it to the Superbowl and beat US for it as well. Your side don't have much room to talk about overeacting.

Me personally, I hate that Gettleman was fired after getting us out of cap hell, while also putting up a competitive team. Most teams would have suffered much worse records than we had if they had to recover from the same position and that is a testament to what Gettleman brought to the table. I had high hopes for this season with him, and to an extent still think we can do well, however the thought of Hurney even having a chance of destroying the work done to recover from cap hell makes me absolutely sick.

The main test right now is going to be how much he ends up paying Olsen and TD. If he overpays and cost's us so much money that it makes it difficult or impossible to resign Star, Norwell, and Trai Turner then this will continue to be a terrible move. If he does it correctly then cool, as long as he isn't made the permanent GM come next season.

I expect good things from our players, our front office however, I don't expect much after these events.

It's really sad the reactions that have been posted on this site and elsewhere. I was a big Gettleman fan. But you know, I once was a huge Jon Beason fan and Steve Smith fan. Those guys played hard for us and showed heart every Sunday when the games didn't matter. If Gettleman was anything less than cordial with these guys, I'd rather go 0-16 with Hurney than win with Gettleman

That's the kind of attitude that builds teams like the Browns.

You have to run a team like a business or you're running a country club.

Can I be shot now?

We've got people wanting JR to die so he won't be the owner, for Cam/Luke to get traded "so they can play for a winner," calling TD a snake, wanting the team to fail this year and it's all because they fired the GM

Yeah, this thread's totally a problem

Stupidity is running rampant on the huddle currently, and it won't be slowing down any. Threads like this only add to it.

First of all, I'm not thrilled with him being fired. Second, I'd never root for anyone to beat my team in the Super Bowl. And third, it's not MY side.

Are you proud of yourself for making this thread?

TBH PSC, just my opinion, but for the faux-objective crowd that reveled in the misery of lifelong Panther fans who struggled with the dishonorable dismissals of icons like Smitty (or up-and-comers like Norman), this is poetic justice.  Let them have their go-round for zingers and comeuppance like all the "whiners" got at the hands of their hero.  We all get to be the goat at some point.
