2018 RB's

Really talented group this past season for 2017 but the 2018 class could be even better.

Saquan Barkley- projected top 5,  comparison Zeke and Joe Mixon (who i had as a top 10 guy this year talent wise). 5'11 228 4.4 guy. Great quickness and vision and not afraid to run someone over.  He blew up last year, see how he caps it off this season.

Derrius Guice- Projected 1st, comparison  Marshawn Lynch.  Lynch 5'11 215 Guice 5'11 218.  Overshadowed by Fournette his whole crew, this kid is a beast not many know about.  Like Lynch he isn't a burner but has speed to take it to the house.  Guice is one of if not the best RB to square up and run defenders over.  Kid is literally beast mode 2.0

Royce Freeman- Projected rounds 2-3, comparison poor man's Jonathon Stewart. Kid was hyped as the next J-Stew, 230 4.45 guy.  Was thought to be a 1st round guy this last draft.  His sophomore season he rushed for 1,836 and 17 TD  with 348 rec yards.  His junior year he had some major locker room issues and his stock took a major hit, so he returned for his senior season.

LJ Scott- hyped as the next big RB to come out of MSU after Bell.  Kid was hyped up a Ton to be the next Bell.  Very similar size and athletic ability.  Scott didn't quite match the hype as a freshman and had a quiet sophomore year only going for 994 in 12 games.  He showed the flash briefly vs Ohio State squad.  The Ohio State squad loaded with NFL talent, Scott went off for 160 rushing and 76 receiving.

Bo Scarborough- another big Bama back.  Big tall long strider RB very much like Derrick Henry.

Mike Weber- the guy who was expected to come in and take over the role Zeke left. Ran for 1,096 last year but was overshadowed by Curtis Samuel who was all over the field.  Most people are projecting him to go off this season

Nick Chubb- kid was Awesome but after the injury he just hasn't been the same.  Stock has taken a hit.

Sony Michel- expect him to go higher than Chubb.  Has the speed and quickness Chubb doesn't have.

If McCaffrey does well and Stewart stays healthy, I seriously doubt we draft a RB. If we do it might be a late round power back.

Hell honestly if they had decided to clean RB house this offseason and ended up let Stew and CAP go (along with Tolbert obviously) , I wouldn't have been against a McCaffrey + Perine combo or McCaffrey and James Conner. Or it could have been perfect if we drafted Derrick Henry last year instead of Vernon Butler, and drafted McCaffrey this year.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
