Panthers Gauging Trade Interest

There have only been two since '05. We were involved in both.

We traded Sauerbrun for a 7th and traded a 4th for Lee. When you consider the fact that the last punter trade was over a decade ago and involved a 7th round pick it really drives home the point of just how hard Gettleman got fuged by the laughing stock of the NFL aim that deal.

The Steelers traded a punter to the Giants two years ago. Also the Browns aquired Lee via trade.

Lee was good last year, would prefer to keep him over Palardy. No chance we get anything for Butker/Gano.

Agree. Butler is a rookie that hasn't outperformed the incumbent vet. If someone wants him they will wait til Sunday and pick fo him up or a similar replica. There an outside shot of getting something for Lee if someone has a need and wants to hedge prior to cut down but I doubt it will be anything more than a 7th and a bag o chips

Feels like they're just trying to put this out there to see if they can get anyone to bite before they cut these guys on Saturday. Same reason why they were building up the P and K "competitions". Just a part of the game, folks....

Yep.

But instead of saying they're gauging interest, Rivera or whoever they took this quote from would've been a lot better off saying they've had some teams call and check in on the two

This. We couldn't get anything for Butker or Palardy. MAYBE we could get a 7th for Lee but given his age, contract, and the fact that he got beat out this year by ine of the statistically worst punters in the league last year... I very seriously doubt it.

Why in the hell would anybody trade for a punter or kicker that they know is going to be cut anyway?

If it's a team late in the waiver order they would give up a 6 or 7 to ensure they get him over another team.
