I was thinking 100k incentive for every week he is on the active roster. Nice little bump in pay if he's Mr consistent. Team ir protected if he tears up his knee in week 3..

Only problem I see with catch/yardage incentives is it gives him reason to demand the ball and not focus on team goals.

I can't see how Olsen demanding the ball is a bad thing. He is a huge part of the team and I have to imagine that getting him the ball and having another 1000 yard season is definitely a team goal on offense. Who gets hurt by Olsen taking over. Who would you rather catch the ball?

When we had Frenchy Foucalt at left tackle Greg was unselfish and helped protect Cam. We need that at times.

And he will be solid in run support and blocking downfield on screens and short passes. And he still will get his 1000 yards. He is one of the best tight ends in the league. Why keep trying to make the new contract a bad thing. A motivated Olsen and a good supporting  cast should portend a deep playoff run. Given that Cam stays healthy.

Glad Hurney was able to get this done. All it took was the 2 sides getting together, and some respect. Win/win on both sides

You know Cam is going to do everything in his power to help his boy earn that 2 milli

No offense, but let me know when Hurney doesn't, "get this done".  I have yet to see him not placate or at minimum meet 3/4th's of the way on every single issue he has ever been faced with.

He does not understand or have the ability to say, "NO".  Even if it possibly means the remaining future of Cam Newton's time in Carolina is in the balance, he caves every time.

Hurney is a spineless bitch and Greg signed a 4 year deal.  The first will never change and the second changed as soon as dipshlt got here.

Back to Country Club University a.k.a the Carolina Panthers.

You cannot run a railroad like this.

We all love Greg but a 4 year deal is a 4 year deal (with all that goes along with it being an NFL deal understood).

I hope Marty wins the lottery next week and quits the next day.  We cannot survive long-term like this.

Maybe....juuuuust maybe Hurney won't be the awful hire many believe he will be. I still want a new GM at the end of the season though.

Marty Hurney was a punchline on this board for years.  Bringing him back was shortsighted and actually insulting to the fans.  We know how bad he is at this.

For a bandaid I think we could do much, much worse. Now if he's hired long term I'll have my pitchforks storming Mint St with every one else....

    • They've gone way overboard with the masking of plays by only filming the ball in air.  Nobody is analyzing camp highlights.
    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
