San Fran - What do you know...

Hoyer has looked good plenty of times and always reveals himself as a disappointment. He needs a josh Gordon or deandre Hopkins to bail him out with his pray throws. SF doesn't have that. Nor do they have a RB we can't handle. McDonald was their stud against us last year and he's gone.

we can and should win this.

That was last year though. We were 6-10 last year. If we expect the Panthers to be better, then why shouldn't we at least allow for the possibility that the 49ers could be better?

I'm going from what the so called experts are saying the 49ers Defense is to be ranked this year 2017. Not last year. I am not an expert(far from it) so I have to rely on what these people on Football shows say and what these articles say and that is what I am hearing and reading for 2017. Once again not 2016. They are suppose to predict this stuff so that is what we go with. Case in point. If all the experts would be saying Christian McCaffrey, Kareem Hunt, Joe Mixon, and Leonard Fournette all were going to suck they wouldn't be drafted by all of us so high in Fantasy Football. My point is we listen to all those people. Right or Wrong that is what we got to really go with because unless we have some sort of access to seeing all the games and know how to analyze all of it which I certainly don't then we listen to those shows and read those articles.

The Panthers game against the 49ers isn't going to be a cakewalk by no means. Going across the country in week 1 on the road is never a good thing so I definitely don't see a blow out. I just don't see how the 49ers are going to contain Cam, Benjamin, Olsen, and McCaffrey and that isn't even mentioning Stewart. It is going to be too much to handle for a defense that is suppose to not be very good.

Preseason is preseason but their first team destroyed the Vikings' first team.

Yes they did, but the Vikings were 3-8 down the stretch and right now are awful in many ways.  A mess in Minny both on and under the surface.

No excuses against San Fran.

I assume  Kyle Shanahan will design some plays that will give our defense some fits. Their defense is young but talented. With a young team, new coaches, and a home opener the 49ers will be playing on a lot of adrenaline, the Panthers need to pounce on them early and give them no sense of hope. At this point in the Rivera era, with a veteran defense and QB we should be putting these kinds of teams away but with the Panthers you never know.

Sure, they have hope but if we have any hopes for a great season we go take care of business.  Win by 1 pt is fine.. We also have questions mostly around Cam being able to throw the ball.  Of course the officials also have their say, they hated Cam last year.

I think teams can look good in Pre Season but when push comes to shove and the games count the money is on the line and the cream of the crop rises. The 49ers are far from the cream. You don't win with a defense that is listed at 31 out of 32 teams against the 1st string team all 4 quarters(No Way). Not many playmakers on the team. OK, I'll give them Hyde and maybe even Garcon but that is it.

right, I think sometimes bad teams try to look really good in preseason to give the fans something to believe in

The main thing is I just don't see how a young defense can handle the offensive weapons the Panthers will throw at them. We have Cam, Benjamin, Olsen, McCaffrey, and Stewart.  I just think that is too much to handle for a young defense that is listed at close to the bottom of the NFL.
