Smith's contract expires after next season (2018).  I highly doubt they have any intention of offering him a new contract.  Ergo, no Aaron Rodgers situation.

You know there is a chance that Alex just keeps plugging along, winning games and being a pretty darn good QB. Which could just turn it into an Aaron Rogers situation.

I thought it was that he has the infamous "long developing routes" on 3rd down that get Newton killed ???

That has more to do with a clear lack of separation from our receivers outside of KB and Olsen. It's been an ongoing issue.

But it also should be common sense that if you're OL is suspect you should be trying to get the ball out of your QB's hands as quickly as possible.

Dear Mike,

If ever you are confused on how to properly employ CMC, please throw in that tape of the Kansas City Chiefs against the the Pats. You should pay especially close attention to where they line up #25 Kareem Hunt. There is no excuse for CMC not to have similar success all season long.

We are not interested in hearing how everything takes time to gel. Make it happen!

Sincerely,

#PantherNation

Difference will be whether Cam acts like Alex Smith and is content throwing the underneath stuff or like in years past he ignores the wide open guy in the flat to try and gun it into a tight window 20 yards down the field.

NOPE!

The problem is clearly MIKE Fin SHULA!

everyone will say, but we won!?

I watched multiple RBs with similar skill sets masterfully worked into the gameplan.

This poo he came up with today was absolute garbage! Worked against the crappy 49ers, won't work against future opponents

You are so full of crap. The commentators talk all night about how creative Shula was and what great play calling he did. Truth is we left 2 touchdowns on the field on wide open receivers Cam missed.  If you still complain about Shula after today you clearly have a huge agenda and have no idea about what you are talking about.

You clearly only see things your way. This gameplan was all CMC first, and all of our other weapons were an afterthought.

Now, is it by design because Cam's shoulder isn't ready to go vertical? We don't know. I hope that to be the case. KB having only one catch and Olsen/Funch only having 2 aren't going to cut it against a real contender.

It amazes me that people are that blind to beleive that Shula put together a good offensive gameplan.

Look at how Kareem Hunt was used. Look at how Tarik Cohen was used. THOSE were good game plans.

Shula's gameplan was CMC and then everybody else. Notice how KC and CHI both used other weapons first to compliment these players? If you don't understand whatsoever what I'm talking about, I'm not sure your capable of of commenting anything further to the discussion

You clearly are looking for things to complain about and you will find them if that is all you look for. Cam was very rusty early and we had to go run heavy to compensate. The second half we got things rolling. Given we should have hung 35 on them. That pass play to Ed Dickson was so set up by early throws and dumpoffs to CMC. The safety came down to cover CMC and Cam had Dickson all alone over the top. Great play call. One of many tonight. Too bad you see the same thing but have no appreciation for what you are seeing.

    • Just chasing targets is a fools game. Chase averaged 85 yrds and .76 TDs per game his first year and 87.16 yrds, and .75 TD's per game his second year. Statistically the same. NOT an improvement. Puka saw no increase either. Yes, Waddle's went down because he had to share targets with another receiver - just like TMac will have to share targets with Coker next year so you have actually just made my point concerning Coker. Olave saw an increase in targets but Carr replaced Dalton and even with the increase in targets, his production was pretty flat (83 extra yards and 1 more TD for the entire year). And Wilson's number did increase but the Jets replaced the other two receivers and their contribution was significantly down from Davis's and Moore's. Again, nothing in those numbers should lead anyone to believe there will be a big leap for Tmac next year.
    • See my previous post. You're also leaving out that T-Mac was likely hitting a rookie wall, like 95% of rookies do late in their first season, combined with the added attention on him by defenses, which in turn would be why Bryce looked Coker's way down the stretch.  With Coker playing like that to start next year, defenses will have to pay attention to it, which will then also make things easier for T-Mac. All of which is also ignoring that T-Mac will just be a better player next year than he was this year, assuming he works on his game this offseason, which we all know he will be.  If a player who was already your clear cut #1 comes back even better his next season, you're going to make sure you're throwing it his way more often, no matter who else you have. Again, Coker's added targets won't be at the expense of T-Mac's, they will BOTH be taking targets from the rest of the team.  Not to mention, we should be passing it more next year to begin with, seeing as we'll have both of them hopefully ready to go full speed Week 1, which again, will help both their target totals increase. Coker looks like a really good player, but even the most optimistic person can't say he looks like he has #1 potential, he has very solid to maybe even high end #2 potential.  You're not taking targets away from the reigning OROY who looks like a true Top 15 WR already to get your #2 targets, you increase both of them by taking from the others.
