2015 you were a fan of his work, no?

No, get with the program Jr. No one's ever been a fan of Shula's work. What part of Zods first post on the subject don't you understand? Nothing has changed on that front.

I do understand millennias these days though. Even if the above were true these kids think that 1 good year or deed makes you and you're that and not the rest of your body of work. $15 bucks an hour for fast food workers who can't get orders right 95% of the time but that 5% of the time when it's right BOY IS IT RIGHT AM I RIGHT!

Cam is extremely talented and he's got talent in his wide receivers and running backs.  The problem is scheme.  We couldn't block Shaq Lawson and Dareus yesterday and it didn't seem to matter where they lined up.  Good OC's will see that and send in plays, ON TIME, that negate the pass rush.  All I saw yesterday was 3 or 4 wide outs on deep or medium routes.  Very few slants, screens, or crossing patterns from our best slot receiver.

Big contrast watching Matt Ryan last night getting to the line of scrimmage with 18 seconds on the play clock and having a chance to actually see what the defense is showing.  Cam usually gets to the same point with 8 seconds on the play clock.

This cannot be stressed enough. If you watched both offenses yesterday, Arod and Ryan are both (like you said) getting to the line around 18 seconds. This gives them a chance to not only see what the defense is doing, but to adjust accordingly. 8 seconds doesn't even give Cam to set protections, let alone look at what the defense is doing. It also allows the opposing D to tee off on our o-line because they already know when the ball is going to be snapped, which I think is why our o-line continually has trouble each year with Shula. We have a scheme problem.........we have a Shula problem.

Yea we can't audible or take advantage of the defense when we can barely get the play off.....I've said this since my day 1 here and a major problem in some of these discussions is a lot of posters on here ONLY watch the Panthers play....they don't watch the NFL so they talk from such a narrow perspective that it makes their discussion on subjects worthless.

Like yall said...just literally watch any other game or just even the other team we're playing and you'll see(well....most of you will)

Wasn't Shula our OC when we went to the Super Bowl,  And then won 3 divisional titles in a row.  Or does he just get cedit for the bad stuff??? 15-1 and don't blame the SB loss on Shula.  That was refs and the fact that the WR's couldn't catch a fugging cold.

The offense works because Cam did his job and sometimes he improvised...Shula is not that bright when it comes to playcalling ..lets just be honest..If we did not have the defense we had that yr we would have loss many games and would not have been in the SB.Im just hoping that the dense can hold out until Cam gets on track and maybe then Shula will have improved in playcalling..but for some reason i doubt that.

Take away Cams ability to threaten a defense with his legs and you severely limit his ability.

He's not a pocket passer. Can he stand back there and make some throws, sure. But, he needs to use his legs to make plays. He needs to do that for no other reason than it gets him and the team a huge boost of energy.

I have no clue why this coaching staff can't have him rolling out and making throws. It's moronic.

Maybe because he seems to suck throwing the ball on the run.

You are so wrong here. Shula is great at play design and gameplanning. If anything he struggles with adjustments and situational playcalling.

Because he's the severely inadequate when it comes to job performance, decision making, situational play calling and establishing and maintaining a rhythm?

True, but not the correct answer.

The correct answer is because that is what his head coach wants him to do.

If you had read i said he was bad at playcalling not play design..

Don't necessarily agree with that either. I will concede his situational playcalling could be better but without knowing what he called and whether Cam changed it or not, it is hard to know exactly what the problem was on any specific play.

So, if that is the answer, did he not just give the blueprint to every other team on how to do this, if not, why?

Dude tendecies and formations evolve through out the season.. does any of that new film reveal our newly acquired deep threats? I'll answer that for you noo! Now shh be quiet and observe the great shula:shades:

What about the other 4 years? No, what about his whole career? Why is it that everywhere he goes, mediocrity follows?

He has coached for a past MVP and was the coordinator for a team that almost had a PERFECT season in recent years so I'm incline to give him a bit of leeway as should you..

    • At least Rivera got the Super Bowl, and then lost is because he refused to adjust.  Rod’s likely will never get to the Stanley Cup unless the team he coaches is stacked and can overcome Rods weird decisions making.
    • Reddit has one of the most toxically positive fan base. You cannot criticize the team at all. If you do downvoted.
    • We've literally seen him hop around the pocket to survey the field in multiple occurrences. Defenses have this on tape. Cam and QB's like him built the way he was height and strength wise could get by on those natural gifts in their prime. Bryce Young is unequivocally going to have to go above and beyond with his footwork in order to carve out not just a long career but an elite career worthy of a top overall draft selection. We should be able to wholeheartedly agree with one another on that. Intermediate sideline throws without placing the ball out of bounds where the receiver has to contort themselves or make an absurd acrobatic catch for it to be a completion. And yes developing a better chemistry in the deep passing game with his receivers to avoid miscues. Both areas will need to see improvement if the young offense is to develop the way we hope in 2025. And we don't necessarily need to be winning mind you. But development of the supporting cast requires this from Bryce. We have invested a ton of capital in the offensive line. We've invested heavily in WR. We've invested in our backfield. We've invested in TE. We've got a young up and coming offensive minded head coach. The expectation should be for our redzone efficiency to improve significantly. That is not just on Bryce Young. But at the end of the day it will always begin and end with him more often than not. It's always been that way and that's just the nature of the position in this league. And not for nothing but before we drafted Bryce Young nobody was going around here saying we need elite play across the board and top shelf coaching for him to be effective. His biggest selling point was his ability to succeed off script and make something out of nothing. We're certainly going to have to see that come to fruition. Now we wait.
