A different view of the 6 sacks on Cam Newton

Wide view of the field on all of Cam Newton's six sacks against the Bills.

Strange route by CMC, not that Cam ever saw him.  All 4 receivers are going for the end zone. First down is at the 14. Too long to develop, Matt Kalil beaten, sack.

Coverage sack. Dickson is open underneath eventually to make the field goal easier. Cam looking end zone though.

Shepard wide open immediately. Could have been a first.

Play just takes way too long to develop. Cam is in trouble before anyone gets open.

That is a McDermott signature blitz. Still, I can almost get to "three one thousand", ball needs to be out.

Shepard knocked down , would have been a good option. 

Kalil beaten. Looked like he was relying on CMC for a little help. '

No one else close to being open.

It is early and I have only had one cup of coffee. 

Let me know what you see in the above posts. To me it looks like a combination of bad play calls/design , QB unwilling to take the layup, and poor protection by the LT mainly. 

 

Mix it all in a bowl and you get 6 sacks.

One thing I noticed was cam was sacked in less than 4 seconds each time. So why is everyone saying he held the ball too long

Especially under a blitz, ball should be out by 4 seconds. Find the hot route or get rid of the ball.

Cam needs to check down more often. He could have avoided at least half of those sacks by doing so. The O line was bad, but he needs to try and help them out a little.

Also obligitory Shula sucks fire him out of a clown cannon away from us forever.

Cam has the ability to audible,  right? The play designs were completely wrong for the situations given.  That said,  cam should have seen the play and called an audible with some shorter routes. 

McDermott should have been exactly what Shula and Cam thought he was...

Daryl Williams trips over his own feet just as the blitzing LB hits the gap... at that point the playcall doesn't matter, it's over. Cam has to step up to get away from that and is sacked. Trai stays with the most immediate threat and Williams is still on his ass while the stunting DE runs by him. Between plays like this and the holding calls Williams was a liability on Sunday.

We should not be calling those plays with those safeties sitting that deep.
