Cam's "evolution"

IIRC...2-3 years ago Cam met with Mr. Richardson who advised him to take what the defense game him.  He talked like he was going to make that change but did not. 2015 happened and bombs away worked until the Superbowl.

Critics have universally been saying that Cam cannot throw short.  Before now, I think he has not liked it.  I am sure he was "forced" to try it in practice in the past.  Most of this year he got no practice.

So, 1st few games this season....Cam was Cam...tried some short stuff.  Still held on to the ball too long waiting for the big play.  By the time he looked for the dump off...it was too late.

Last week ( probably not coincidentally after getting a full week of practice for the 1st time) Cam seemed to get it.  He did not hold the ball.  Got it out to his receivers...short plays were good plays.  With one exception to CMC he was accurate. He spread the ball around.  Recovered from an early mistake and embraced the evolution. The result? A win at NE..never an easy thing, a great passer rating and the highest completion record he has had since when?

So, today's game should confirm that Cam is moving forward.  He has finally gotten it. If the Lions try to take away the short stuff, that should help the O line and open things up downfield. And now that Cam is a threat to run again...another worry for the D.

I only see this offense getting better, especially now that Cam seems truly on board.
