I didn't see how the last season of FTWD ended, as I still haven't watched the second half... but...

There was a helicopter featured in the first half of that season. Basically, it got shot down/forced to land, a certain group of people salvaged it and were trying to repair it.

Maybe that's where the helicopter comes in?

I believe the FTWD were last in Oklahoma or Texas or somewhere out in the midwest, not west coast. So it would be plausible for them to make it to Virginia.

Honestly, though, if it isn't one of a few actors that actually interact with TWD crew/Morgan at some point, it will be, like most TWD TV things, pretty anti-climactic.

The helicopter is gone.

Their last location was in Mexico, near the border, probably near AZ.  The leader of a new villain group did mention something about trying to control trade from the Gulf to Pacific and was going to take one of the characters with him to Houston, but with the way the season ended it did not seem as if that was happening.

Of course I think it has only been maybe two months on that show so I suppose they have time.  Honestly though it is pretty clear that the people behind all this do not care about things making sense at this point.

When they announced the crossover my thought was Eugene,  rosita, and Abraham meeting the group in passing in houston. Or one of the ftwd group joining their group and being lost along the way.

Same here.  My wife and I religiously watched after we binged what we missed right before season 4 and loved it...  But, probably starting with Glenn's dumpster stunt, I felt they jumped the shark but kept watching out of habit.  Then their handling of the timing of Glenn and Abraham's deaths and Negan's introduction just kind of zeroed out any motivation I had left to watch.  My wife stopped caring as well.  I watched this season's premiere, told her about it, and we both just kind of forgot it was coming on each week, lol.  So, I avoided this thread for a few weeks, not wanting to see any spoilers for when I caught up, and then today I said eff it...  I don't know if I'll watch again, so I may as well get the cliff notes here and decide.

I stopped watching after the episode where Tara finds the women with the guns.  I still listen to a podcast on it though as I like the two guys doing the pod and listen to them for several shows.  Evidently I am not the only one as they get e-mails every week from people that stopped watching and keep up through them.

I know it's pointless to complain about it at this point, but it was glaringly obvious in this last episode. The crazy unnecessarily tough woman leader of the Saviors was firing her AR-15 at some walkers and not only was there no actioning of the gun but the dust cover on the ejection port was closed. Closed. At this point it has become a thing I laugh about. However, it shows how truly awful and how little they care now. They aren't even trying anymore. Which is too bad because the guy who plays Eugene certainly was doing his best. When thinking about the motivations and then plans of the cast this last episode...it's just a giant facepalm. So bad.

There have always been issues like this, but they were way more isolated in seasons 3-6.

They say the midseason finale is the most shocking thing ever, but I think at this point the most shocking thing ever would be if they put out another good season.

I think I am fine not watching.  I'll just have my wife give me the summary.    I somehow doubt it will be very shocking or good.  Just another cliffhanger.

I don't remember noticing the weapons not actually firing until the last 2 seasons. It's like they figure it's cheaper to just do the bullet strikes digitally and figured it's not worth it for the guns to fire blanks or air. Even Designated Survivor has actioning in their weapons. To me it's like a slap in the face. "Suck it down stupid" is what I feel like they're saying to me. Nevermind the constant "Why are they doing that?" questions from me.

To me it falls into that category with the magic bottle rocket, the flipping van, headshots while riding on a moving vehicle, etc. They have gotten lazier, not just in the way you're talking, but overall.

they also seem to put the focus on the premiere/finales and think that by "shocking/surprising" you at the bookends of starts and breaks they can literally do poop in between.

I mean the opening episode this year showed Rick crying like a bitch in the near future.  I'm sure the YUGE shocker will be them capping one of Rick's peoples to show how super serious Negan is now.
